em8300 sound doesn't work when I resume from hibernation.  (Maybe video
doesn't work either, but I don't use it so I don't know.)  I tried
reloading the microcode, but that doesn't seem to help, and sometimes it
even hangs the machine.  Unloading and reloading the kernel module, the
usual workaround for drivers that don't handle suspend properly, does
get it working again; however, under normal circumstances I can't do
this, because some process always has the audio device open, which
prevents the module from being unloaded.  Currently it's
xfce-mcs-manager that's keeping /dev/snd/controlC0 open all the time;
when I was using gnome, it was something similar.  Killing
xfce-mcs-manager has various unpleasant consequences that I'd rather
avoid.

What would be involved in getting the driver to suspend and resume
properly?  Is there something blocking this, or has it just not been
implemented yet?

Thanks
-Aaron

Hi Aaron,

as far as I can see from current cvs, suspend is not supported at the moment. I will try my luck to implement
this feature.

Greets,
Christian
