Helma meeting tomorrow

Just a reminder that Helma meeting will take place tomorrow at
werkzeugH in Vienna.

http://dev.helma.org/wiki/Helma+Meeting+Spring+2008/

I'm just about to fix the starting time. My assumption was that we
should (try to) use the whole day and start (kind of) early, something
like 10 AM. But since there's a total lack of announced
talks/presentations (I'm the only one so far), I'm wondering if it
will be enough to start in the afternoon, at 2 PM? Or maybe the
"presentation/talk" scheme isn't quite right for what people expect or
plan to do, and it should be more like an extended Q&A session? Or
just applied collective problem solving?

Any way, please use the next 2 hours to either register your
interests/topics/proposals on the meeting wiki page linked above, or
chime in here on the list. I'll then make a decision on whether to
start pre- or post lunch.

best,
hannes

Hi Hannes,

i would start at 10am. and i would organize the day in a barcamp/open space style.
"No spectators, just participants"

At barcamps / open space you usually start by gathering topics and talks within a time frame.  The wiki is a good starting point, but often topics just occur when people come together. So it's a good idea for everybody to think about, what they want to talk about, and share this thoughts by posting a new topic to the wiki page.

I would organize some food, drinks and coffee, because werkzeugH  doesn't open 'till 4pm. But Manfred will be there and help us.

For those who can't be there the whole day, i would suggest, that they join at 2 pm. We could make a quick wrap-up and introduce new topics.

Matthias

I agree with Matthias, let's just start at 10am. If we start at 2pm
and we later find that we could have used these four hours, there will
be no way to get them back. Approaching this kind of as a major
brainstorming in a barcamp / open space fashion sounds like the right
idea.

Anyway, I added a second topic to the wiki, just to broaden then scope
a little: "Setting up a non-profit organization to support the Helma
project: Which kind of services should such an organization provide in
order to best serve as a catalyst between different stakeholders in
the Helma project? What should it do, what should it not do?"

Hi,

just talked to the knallgrau devs. and they can't join at 10am. most of them thought it would start in the late afternoon / afterwork. so those who will be there at 10, should decide how long we want to stay, so that those who will come later can still join. (i can stay 'till 7pm). manfred (werkzeugH) told me, that they need the room after 6pm, but we could also move over to the k-werkstatt (which is our office right next door to the werkzeugH) after 6pm.

Thanks for the feedback, Matthias and Chris.

Ok, so let's start at 10 AM, and let's do it barcamp style. I'm
updating the wiki page right now.

Having the k-werkstatt nearby as an alternative afterhours location is
a nice option, although we may want to prefer to blend with the
werkzeugH crowd. We'll see :-)
