Hello,
Is there a good plug-in for groovy in Netbeans 6.1? I have googled it
and only found dead projects. If any one knows if there is one in the
works please let me know.

Thanks,
Vitaly Babiy

From http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=134354
Groovy/Grails plugin is already available in dev builds and shold appear in 6.5 M1.

I think groovy support is not available for 6.1; i could not locate groovy plugins in any of the 6.1 update centers at:
     http://www.netbeans.info/uc/show_uc_content.html

I think the recommended choice is to use the current daily builds (i.e 6.5) and use the dev update center to install the groovy plugin.

I do see the groovy plugins listed in the daily builds off the trunk:
http://www.netbeans.info/uc/show_uc_content.php?ucurl=http://deadlock.netbeans.org/hudson/job/javadoc-nbms/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/nbbuild/nbms/updates.xml

But these, i believe, will only work with the daily builds.

You may want to try:
    - Raising the question 'how to get groovy plugins for 6.1' in  'http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=134354'; the developers may be able to give pointers, if any are available.
    - Add a new uc to 6.1 (using plugin manager's settings tab) , with URL

http://deadlock.netbeans.org/hudson/job/javadoc-nbms/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/nbbuild/nbms/updates.xml
    and download groovy plugins.
This may not work though; due to module spec numbers and dependencies, plugins meant for one version (especially dev) are not guaranteed to work on other versions.

karthik

yes, this is true. The Groovy plugin itself is still under development
therefore it's available on 6.5 dev UC only.

I'm sure that the developers working on the Groovy / Grails plugin have plenty to do in order to get it working with 6.5. However, there are lots of people that would like to work with at least Groovy in NB 6.1. Does it make sense for some of us interested in using the plugin now to take a snapshot of the source and attempt to get it working as a NB 6.1 plugin?

this will be nearly impossible, unfortunately, because there were made
non-trivial changes in other parts of the IDE (project support, java
infrastructure etc.) to be able to provide better integration with pure
java projects, at least some code completion...
