Hello all!

What does GridSphere bring that other portlet containers don't?

Top 5,  I can safely vouch for:

#1: Apache License.

#2: Active user community, very responsive lead developers (Jason, Michael and
Oliver, to be specific)

#3: A small codebase means it is easy to understand and modify (compare that
against something like jBoss, or websphere, assuming you have all the
sources...). The GS tag libraries make it trivial to quickly write useful
apps. One can also write "pure" JSR168 portlets.

#4: I think GS is perfect for academics, where extensions, modifications are
quite common.

#5: Reasonably good documentation.

Regards
Anand

That is invaluable. :)

And on more technical grounds? Does it offer more to portlets than
strictly a JSR168 implementation?

It is why I'm poking around it... I'll have to write extensions and
portlets.

A must-have. ;)
