Hi Vikas,

you don't need Zebra (any dynamic routing) for this. Simply setup
static route in your server oper. system.

If running linux:
ip route add <dest_net/mask> via <next_hop>

where <dest_net/mask> is network you want routed to "some other
server" and <next_hop> is IP of "some other server"

Hi,

I am very basic to zebra. I have some 5-6 servers connected through lan. On one of the server I want to configure some router or something so that I can route all the requests going out from that server to a particular address let say "www.google.com" to some other server (I can install some client on that server also to catch these if required). Please help me out on this one, if zebra can be used for this purpose.

telnet is unencrypted and is a pretty unsafe way to connect to a remote
host. On most modern installations this service isn't used any more for
external connections.
I suggest that you use ssh to get a shell-session on the Zebra-host and
continue with local telnet like you described above.

[zebra 23160] Remote Login Failing

Hello sir,

Recently I have installed the Zebra in my machine.
In the local host login that is 127.0.0.1 is it getting connected
Properly With zebra.

But in the remote login telnet it failing.

This is the error I am getting.

telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: No route to host
********************************************************

Let me know how to connect from the remote login.

Folks,

I'm currently running the Zebra Daemon and the OSPFD Daemon on my server. My only mission

is to have the server build a routing table for OSPF traffic... It should only running a pass-along client, I don't want

it acting like the router.

Currently I see nothing when I run:

Router# show ip route ospf
Codes: K - kernel route, C - connected, S - static, R - RIP, O - OSPF,
B - BGP, > - selected route, * - FIB route

O 43.145.51.0/24 [110/10] is directly connected, bond0, 00:39:17

Where can I go to see the routes its building for the ospf traffic?

Perhaps I have my configuration files setup incorrectly?

Forgive me. I have left some info out below.

I want the blades running Zebra to ONLY direct people to the Main OSPF router.... I do not want my blades to be routing OSPF traffic....

I only want for a packet to come to one of my blades, and instruct the packet to look at "x" router for direct information.

I am trying to build zebra binary that which independent on hardware. If kernel version is same then we should be able to run zebra.
Whole idea is to avoid
Ø       ./configure
Ø       make
Ø       make install
Compile only one. Copy binary where we require (provided same kernel) then we should be able to run zebra without any problem.
Currently I am getting a segmentation fault.
Can any help in this regard?

on different hardware (architecture). Maybe you want to check out

i know to configure a rip router with following command:

for example:

ip address 192.168.11.7/24 //configure ip address

router rip //startup rip

network 1.1.1.0/24

but now the router will be used a pppoe client and there are many ppp port on the physical port eth0(such as ppp0,ppp1....,but the number is not static),

and the ip address of ppp port is dynamic

for example:

ppp0:192.1.1.1

ppp1:193.1.1.1

ppp2:10.10.1.1

then how to configue zebra rip router ?

Yeah its there but i ve not tried it.I guess the linux mpls project group has added some features to quagga on that front. I am not sure of that and have not tried. You could probably google for it. I remember some work on quagga on that front.

There is no MPLS support in Zebra.
Zebra is a L3 routing suite

That version is based off of my implementation before quagga forked

I have found zebra with mpls support with version

zebra-0.94-1+ldp

But it has only limited features. Have anyone tried this version to use eompls?

There is no MPLS support in Zebra.

I have done work on implementing MPLS infrastructure for quagga (zebra

but one is going to update by Type -3 LSA and other one via Type - 5 ,

In this scenario , type - 3 is getting added and no issues.

But if u have already a Type - 5 External route in ur router and if u add the same route with Type -3 then issue starts.

Type - 5 is getting deleted and Type - 3 is added , this is happening but again type - 3 is deleted

so now there is no route in the router either by type -3 or type -5 ,

IS it a normal behaviour or an issue
