LilyPond 2.13.3: OSX 10.5 test version

This unstable release contains working menus in OSX 10.5; many
thanks to Christian Hitz for fixing this long-standing problem!
This release also contains numerous other bugfixes and features
such as ties with variable thickness, partially dashed slurs, and
eyeglasses.

We are planning another 2.12 release in the next week or two,
which will include the menu fixes for OSX 10.5. Normal users may
wish to wait for this release rather than using an unstable
release.

LilyPond version 2.12 available — 12 year anniversary release

We are proud to announce the release of GNU LilyPond 2.12 “Rune”.

Our joy is tinged with sadness, as long-time LilyPond contributor
and friend Rune Zedeler passed away on the 2nd of July, 2008. This
release is dedicated to him.

Rune was a computer programmer, a musician and a valued
contributor to LilyPond. He had been enthusiastically involved in
the project for the past six years, and he will be sorely missed
in our community.

Major updates
-------------
* Collision detection has been vastly improved. Outside-staff
objects now avoid each other automatically, so far fewer manual
tweaks are required to obtain a pleasing layout.
* The documentation has been almost entirely rewritten during
the year-long "Grand Documentation Project", and the online
documentation is both much better-looking and far easier to
browse. The program is now available in 6 languages, and the
documentation is partially available in French, Spanish and
German. It has never been easier to get started with 'Pond!
* Almost 30 new features, among others transposable fret
diagrams, microtonal accidentals, and a much improved musicxml2ly,
have been implemented and nearly 200 bugs have been fixed. For a

LilyPond 2.11.65 -- another Release Candidate

LilyPond 2.11.65 has been available for a couple of days.

This release has improvements to MusicXML import, contributed by
Reinhold Kainhofer, and adds support for splitting a book in several
book parts, contributed by Nicolas Sceaux.

Nested contexts of the same type are now allowed with any depth, and
overriding nested properties can be done with list syntax, thanks to
Neil Puttock.

This is hopefully the last Release Candidate before stable release 2.12,
so you are welcome to test this release if you can to report new issues.

LilyPond 2.11.64

Hello,
LilyPond release 2.11.64 is out.

MusicXML import has been improved, including church modes support, and
a few bugs in the compilation and documentation building processes are
fixed.

The three documentation manuals are now fully translated in Spanish,
thanks to Francisco Vila.

This release should also fix the font cache problem in Windows
binaries, which used to cause excessive slowness.

LilyPond 2.11.62 – Release Candidate

LilyPond 2.11.62 is out. In addition to a bugfix about \tempo command,
this release has lot of updates to Spanish and German documentation
translations, and the stylesheet for HTML documentation has been
improved.

This is a release candidate: this is one of the last releases before

LilyPond 2.11.58 -- beta release

LilyPond 2.11.58 is out. This is a beta release, which means the next
stable release is expected in a few weeks.

This release is also special, as it includes code which supports more
flexible automatic accidentals rules, written several months ago by Rune
Zedeler, deceased since then. All the development team express their
condolences to his family and his friends.

Besides this, automatic beaming has been improved by Carl Sorensen, and
support for creating stem flags in a new style has been contributed by
Reinhold Kainhofer, and a few bugs have been fixed.

The initial inspiration for LilyPond came ten years ago when two
musician friends grew disappointed with the bland and boring look of
computer formatted scores. Every musician prefers to read beautiful
music, so couldn't we programmers solve that printing problem?

LilyPond just does that: it prints music in the best traditions of
classical engraving with minimum fuss. Don't waste time on tuning
spacing, moving around symbols, or shaping slurs. Impress friends and
colleagues with sharp sheet music!

We are proud to announce the 10-year anniversary release, LilyPond
version 2.10.

NEW STUFF

* Creating music with good page turning points is easier than ever.

The new page breaking algorithm will tune both horizontal and
vertical spacing. Hence, page turns will only fall at rests or places
that you mark explicitly.

* Flat music export format.

LilyPond uses an elegant input format, that uses identifiers,
arbitrary nested structures and inline Scheme expressions. While the
format is easy to write and read for humans, it is less so for programs.

With this release, Erik Sandberg has contributed internal
rewrites that make it possible to output a much simpler intermediate
format. In the long term, this will enable other programs to read
LilyPond music.

* Many small features and formatting improvements.

This includes support for falls and doits, dashed barlines, al
niente hairpins, right hand fingerings for guitar, better formatting of
tied chords, automatic beaming and nested tuplets.

we've recently switched to GIT for version control. As a temporary
measure, we had a repository at repo.or.cz. However, in collaboration
with the savannah hackers, I've now successfully set up a git repository
at savannah. Check it out at

http://git.sv.gnu.org/gitweb/

the repo contains both lilypond and the website (branch web/master). All
the CVS committers have push access to the git repository as well.

The push/pull URL for developers is

ssh+git://git.sv.gnu.org/srv/git/lilypond.git

In connection with this move, I have removed all write access for
developers to repo.or.cz

* By defining a clip region, a cutout EPS file of a number of measures
may be generated from the complete score. Hence, it is no longer
necessary to create separate files to create extracts of (long)
scores. An example is shown in input/regression/clip-systems.ly.
