LilyPond 2.11.45 available - April 26, 2008: Release 2.11.45 fixes a couple of bugs in the formatting engine. lilypond-book has been improved, with better performance, a bugfix about included files, and more flexibility for preprocessing documents with LaTeX variants. LilyPond 2.10—10 years anniversary release

The initial inspiration for LilyPond came ten years ago when two
musician friends grew disappointed with the bland and boring look of
computer formatted scores. Every musician prefers to read beautiful
music, so couldn't we programmers solve that printing problem?

LilyPond just does that: it prints music in the best traditions of
classical engraving with minimum fuss. Don't waste time on tuning
spacing, moving around symbols, or shaping slurs. Impress friends and
colleagues with sharp sheet music!

We are proud to announce the 10-year anniversary release, LilyPond
version 2.10.

NEW STUFF

* Creating music with good page turning points is easier than ever.

The new page breaking algorithm will tune both horizontal and
vertical spacing. Hence, page turns will only fall at rests or places
that you mark explicitly.

* Flat music export format.

LilyPond uses an elegant input format, that uses identifiers,
arbitrary nested structures and inline Scheme expressions. While the
format is easy to write and read for humans, it is less so for programs.

With this release, Erik Sandberg has contributed internal
rewrites that make it possible to output a much simpler intermediate
format. In the long term, this will enable other programs to read
LilyPond music.

* Many small features and formatting improvements.

This includes support for falls and doits, dashed barlines, al
niente hairpins, right hand fingerings for guitar, better formatting of
tied chords, automatic beaming and nested tuplets.

lilypond development moved

Hello all,

we've recently switched to GIT for version control. As a temporary
measure, we had a repository at repo.or.cz. However, in collaboration
with the savannah hackers, I've now successfully set up a git repository
at savannah. Check it out at

the repo contains both lilypond and the website (branch web/master). All
the CVS committers have push access to the git repository as well.

The push/pull URL for developers is

ssh+git://git.sv.gnu.org/srv/git/lilypond.git

In connection with this move, I have removed all write access for
developers to repo.or.cz

PDF file sizes on windows. Feedback wanted

Hello,

there have reports of exploding file sizes for Lily's PDF output on
various flavors of Windows. In order to understand this problem better,
I would like people that experience this problem to run the following
diagnostic

* download http://lilypond.org/~hanwen/cygcheck.exe

* download http://lilypond.org/~hanwen/checksum.py

* open a CMD window

* Go to the directory where you downloaded cygcheck.exe and checksum.py

* run:

python checksum.py

* this should leave a file gs-checksum.log; send this file to the
bug-lilypond list.

If I do this, I get a file looking like this

C:/WINDOWS/system32/USER32.dll 96457929ad87e02918e53fea42b0521f

2.9.1 is available. It's mostly a bugfix release, and 2.8.1 will almost
be the same. This release mainly fixes problems with CJK font loading.
