GNOME 2.25.2 Development Release
================================

Early Xmas present! 2.25.2 is here. This is the second development release
towards our 2.26 release that will happen in March 2009. By now, development
is well under way, and we've already made good progress on some of the
goals that we've set ourselves for 2.26 (http://live.gnome.org/GnomeGoals).
Keep up the good work !

To compile GNOME 2.25.2, you can use GARNOME [1] (which supports users
and has additional/different modules available), or the jhbuild [2]
modulesets [3] (which use the exact tarball versions from the official
release):

Paperbox is a document browser.

We are proud to announce the release of LDTP 1.4.0. This release features number of important breakthroughs in LDTP as well as in the field of Test Automation. This release note covers a brief introduction on LDTP followed by the list of new features and major bug fixes which makes this new version of LDTP the best of the breed. Useful references have been included at the end of this article for those who wish to hack / use LDTP.

About LDTP:

Linux Desktop Testing Project is aimed at producing high quality test automation framework (C / Python) and cutting-edge tools that can be used to test Linux Desktop and improve it. The framework also has tools to record test-cases based on user events in the interface of the application which is under testing. We strive to help in building a quality desktop.

vte-0.19.1 is released. This is a major new devel release. We're aiming for
releasing 0.20.0 for GNOME 2.26 and hopefully vte 1.0 for GNOME 2.28. Some
API has been marked as deprecated in this release. These are symbols that
will be removed in 1.0. There has been a bunch of other exciting changes in
this release. Many thanks to ChPe for continuously working on keeping vte 1.0
in sight.

Accerciser 1.5.2 Released!

This is to announce the release of Accerciser 1.5.2, a development
release.

Accerciser is an interactive Python accessibility explorer for the GNOME
desktop. It uses AT-SPI to inspect and control widgets, allowing you to
check if an application is providing correct information to assistive
technologies and automated test frameworks. Accerciser has a simple
plug-in framework which you can use to create custom views of
accessibility information.

Vala is a new programming language that aims to bring modern programming
language features to GNOME developers without imposing any additional
runtime requirements and without using a different ABI compared to
applications and libraries written in C.

valac, the Vala compiler, is a self-hosting compiler that translates
Vala source code into C source and header files. It uses the GObject
type system to create classes and interfaces declared in the Vala source
code.

The syntax of Vala is similar to C#, modified to better fit the GObject
type system. Vala supports modern language features as the following:

* Interfaces
* Properties
* Signals
* Foreach
* Lambda expressions
* Type inference for local variables
* Generics
* Non-null types
* Assisted memory management
* Exception handling

Vala is designed to allow access to existing C libraries, especially
GObject-based libraries, without the need for runtime bindings. All that
is needed to use a library with Vala is an API file, containing the class
and method declarations in Vala syntax. Vala currently comes with
bindings for GLib and GTK+. It's planned to provide generated bindings for
the full GNOME Platform at a later stage.

Using classes and methods written in Vala from an application written in
C is not difficult. The Vala library only has to install the generated
header files and C applications may then access the GObject-based API of
the Vala library as usual. It should also be easily possible to write a
bindings generator for access to Vala libraries from applications
written in e.g. C# as the Vala parser is written as a library, so that
all compile-time information is available when generating a binding.

What is mousetweaks ?
=======================

The mousetweaks package provides the functions offered by the
Accessibility tab of the Mouse control panel. It also contains
two panel applets related to the mouse accessibility. More
particularly:

1. It offers a way to perform the various clicks without using any
hardware button. In this context, the Dwell Click panel applet
can be used to choose what click type to perform.

2. It allows users to perform a secondary click by doing a
click&hold of the primary mouse button.

3. It provides the Pointer Capture panel applet. This applet creates
an area on the panel into which the pointer can be captured until
the user releases it with a predefined button and modifier
combination.

Misc improvements/fixes:

* Increase internal double click delay in dwell mode to
make it compatible to gftp.

Devhelp is a developer tool for browsing and searching API documentation
for GTK+ and GNOME.

to reinstall GLib 2.18.

What is it?

Empathy consists of a rich set of reusable instant messaging widgets,
and a GNOME client using those widgets. It uses Telepathy and Nokia's

What is it?
===========
Empathy consists of a rich set of reusable instant messaging widgets, and a GNOME client using those widgets. It uses Telepathy and Nokia's Mission Control, and reuses Gossip's UI. The main goal is to permit desktop integration by providing libempathy and libempathy-gtk libraries. libempathy-gtk is a set of powerful widgets that can be embeded into any GNOME application.
