All,
We recently picked up three dxr3 cards to use as a cheap test video
signal generators for our lab. Video is working great (that you to all
the developers). However, I am having some issues with the audio.
The server that the cards are installed in is running FC6, kernel
2.6.22.9-61. When I installed the modules the following devices were
automatically created:
em8300-0, em8300-1, em8300-2
em8300_mv-0, em8300_mv-1, em8300_mv-2
em8300_sp-0, em8300_sp-1, em8300_sp-2
As can be seen, no audio devices were created (em8300_ma-0, em8300_ma-1,
em8300_ma-2). Perhaps something has changed since the alsa integration,
but I was expecting to see those.
When I run em8300setup I receive the error:
Cannot read audio : em8300 Driver returned 22 (unknown)
I am using the 0.16.3 release. I have the same issue with 0.16.2. I
have also tried kernel 2.6.18 all with the same result.
The one possible gotcha about our environment is that the server does
not have a sound card. That initially caused me issues when I tried to
insert the em8300 module so I created a virtual soundcard using the alsa
dummy soundcard driver. Is a soundcard needed to run these cards? I
guess I assumed it would not be as the em8300 have audio outs.
Thank you for your assistance.
Ehren
