Hi all,

Playing with Parser and Filter Encoding I have a simple question concerning Parser configuration.

I'm looking for a generic way to handle both gml2 and gml3 included in filter I provide to my parser.
For that I can just define two parsers with specific configuration (ie filter.v1_1.OGCConfiguration for parser handling GML3, and filter.v1_0.OGCConfiguration for the other one).

But my question is how can I check second expression return in my filter cause if it's null I could try with other parser ?

Filter filter = (Filter) new Parser( new org.geotools.filter.v1_0.OGCConfiguration()).parse (new StringReader(my_FE_string_with_GML));

Any idea or other way to handle that ?
Thanks,

Cheers,
Mathieu
Paul,
I think the problem is that you have multiple gt2_epsg_...jar libraries
in your build path and you are doing some coordinate transformation.
Have a look and keep only one - whichever you plan to use. the
PostgreSQL requires I think that you install Postgress too. I use the
hsql one, and an irregularly supported one is the WKT, I think. But I am
>
> Hi Martin (Desruisseaux),
> sorry, that was my mistake from copying and pasting into the mail. I
> tried both (I know that the order is sometimes tricky).
> here are the results one comes with:
> with the correct WGS84 order:
> lat: 47.346805555555555 lon: 8.963944444444444 proj x:
> 1.5637025606181357E7 proj y: -2852223.337476256
> the result is totally off.
> With the swapped order:
> lon: 8.963944444444444 lat: 47.346805555555555 proj x:
> 1.0735073726643294E7 proj y: 245114.46377226454
> at least the y is correct (spot on). The x is totally off (expected
> value around 715253)
>
> Note that I swapped the order in the input. The switch in
> CRS.decode(sourceSys,true) did not change anything!
> I am still stuck with this one...
>
>> Hello
>>
>> Watch out axis order. If you are using EPSG:4326 as your source CRS, the
>> official axis order (according EPSG) is (latitude, longitude), not the other way
>> arround.
>>
>> You can check which axis order you have with the following code:
>>
>>     System.out.println(sourceCRS);
>>
>> and look at the order in which AXIS[...] element appears.
>>
>> If you really want (longitude, latitude) axis order, use
>>
>>    sourceCRS = CRS.decode(sourceSys, true);
>>

>
>
>
>     System.out.println(sourceCRS);
>
> and look at the order in which AXIS[...] element appears.
>
> If you really want (longitude, latitude) axis order, use
>
>    sourceCRS = CRS.decode(sourceSys, true);

Hi Martin,

[...]

> It make sense, the GridCoverage2D constructor may invokes some RenderedImage
> that trigs the tile computation. However each tile should be computed only once,
> unless there is no TileCache or the TileCache is full.
>
> I would suggest to first make sure that there is a TileCache. The default tile
> cache should be used automatically (if I remember well), but as a safety you can
> specify it explicitly:
>
>    TileCache tc = JAI.getDefaultInstance().getTileCache();
>    RenderingHints hints = new RenderingHints();
>    hints.put(JAI.KEY_TILE_CACHE, tc);
>
> and pass those hints to whatever "create" method you use for creating your
> image. If you use the standard JAI.create method, it seems to me that the tile
> cache hint should be added automatically. But if you instantiate your
> PointOpImage directly, you may need to provide the tile cache hints yourself in
> your RenderingHint map.

I am using the JAI.create and in fact I thought the TileCache should
be used by default. I also used the method you report above to specify
the tilecache and also set some more memory to it in order to be sure
that it is ok. But nevertheless also with very small images the thing
got triggered more than once.

But now that you take away my doubt about how it should be, I will try
to see if I can find where I do something wrong.

> If you really have a TileCache, check if it is full (there is methods in
> TileCache interface for checking the amount of bytes used).

TileCache is something I would like to implement with a
"geomorphologic knowledge" at some point, but before I want to make
sure that the rest of things work :)

Thanks and congratulations for your (& friends) job on geoapi at OGC.

For GEOT-2193 we need to know whether the type of the geometric column is "geometry" or "geographic" since they use different functions for interaction. The idea is to have JDBCDataStore include the native type name as user data. Similar to how it stores the native srid info.
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: data shapefile
    Affects Versions: 2.5.0
            Reporter: Milton Jonathan
            Assignee: Jesse Eichar
            Priority: Trivial
             Fix For: 2.5.2
         Attachments: geotools-tecgraf.2.5.x.ShpFilesLocker-equals-URI.patch

Calls to ShpFilesLocker.equals sometimes take a surprisingly long time, due to an internal call to URL.equals (which is known to be problematic in that sense). This has been fixed by calling URI.equals instead, if possible. A patch is provided to fix the issue, which tries to make as small an impact as possible to the current implementation.
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: data shapefile
    Affects Versions: 2.5.0
            Reporter: Milton Jonathan
            Assignee: Jesse Eichar
            Priority: Trivial
             Fix For: 2.5.2
         Attachments: geotools-tecgraf.2.5.x.ShpFiles_findExistingFile.patch

The ShpFiles(File) constructor allows one to pass a File with an invalid patch such as "nowhere/test.shp". In this case, its initialization routine ends up calling findExistingFile(), which fails to see that the file's parent directory is non-existent - it assumes that file.getParentFile() should return null if the path is invalid. A patch is provided to fix the issue.

> Hi Andrea,
>
> giving a run at simplifying filters for jdbc datastores (for instance, postgis)
> I have some doubts on where it'd be best to do so, since I'm not an expert on
> the jdbc datastores I thought I may use your thoughts once more to not mess it
> up :)
>
> So, we have this nice issue (http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-2182) about
> wiping out invalid fids that aims to fix what seems to be a pretty common
> mistake on WFS's, send a fid filter over typeName1 with a fid like
> "typeName2.someting" and you'll still get a non empty result (I have seen the
> defect on a commercial one).
>
> But for jdbc ones I guess we should add a isValid(String fid):boolean method to
> FIDMapper and then feed the SimplifyingFilterVisitor with an adaptor
> FIDMapper->FIDValidator.
> This way related things keep close instead of requiring a big switch statement
> in order to decide which validation strategy is appropriate for a given
> fidmapper.
>
> Now, about where to apply this, for postgis I guess it would be at
> DefaultSQLBuilder.splitFilter(Filter filter), but I couldn't find out where to
> get the FIDMapper in use at this point. The closer I get to is that SQLBuilder
> contains a SQLEncoder which in turn has a setFidMapper(FIDMapper) mehod, but
> no getter. So... I'm open to any suggestion on how we should better hanlde
> this for postgis and jdbc in general. please?

Well, if you look at the current code you'll see that the simplifying
filter visitor has been used only in JDBCFeatureStore.getFeatureReader.
There you can get the fid mapper, but as you have noticed, it's not
a general enough position, as it leaves out FeatureSource methods
such as bulk updates/deletes, and in general all writes.

Given that SqlEncoder is fid mapper away anyways your proposal to
expose the fid mapper in a getter sounds good, and solves the
above by allowing other places to benefit from the filter
simplification.

The best place to inject the fid mapper seems to be
JDBC1DataStore.getSqlBuilder(), but pay attention,
that method is overridden in most JDBC data stores.

Given the magnitude of this change I would be more comfortable
about:
- having someone review it
- commit it on 2.5.x only after GeoServer 1.7.1 is released

Cheers

Hello Andrea

andrea antonello a écrit :

> After getting my RenderedOp as result from my operation, this, as I
> expect, is waiting for someone to pull the data out of it.
>
> This happens usually by triggering methods like getWidth, getData, getTile etc.
> The rendereop is the result that I want to dump to disk, so I supposed
> that I would trigger rendering only at that point.
>
> Instead, the computation is triggered several times, because I go
> through the process of creating GridCoverage2D from it, which probably
> internally triggers some method that wakes up the operation. Does this
> make sense?

It make sense, the GridCoverage2D constructor may invokes some RenderedImage
that trigs the tile computation. However each tile should be computed only once,
unless there is no TileCache or the TileCache is full.

I would suggest to first make sure that there is a TileCache. The default tile
cache should be used automatically (if I remember well), but as a safety you can
specify it explicitly:

    TileCache tc = JAI.getDefaultInstance().getTileCache();
    RenderingHints hints = new RenderingHints();
    hints.put(JAI.KEY_TILE_CACHE, tc);

and pass those hints to whatever "create" method you use for creating your
image. If you use the standard JAI.create method, it seems to me that the tile
cache hint should be added automatically. But if you instantiate your
PointOpImage directly, you may need to provide the tile cache hints yourself in
your RenderingHint map.

If you really have a TileCache, check if it is full (there is methods in
TileCache interface for checking the amount of bytes used).

        Martin

Hello

Watch out axis order. If you are using EPSG:4326 as your source CRS, the
official axis order (according EPSG) is (latitude, longitude), not the other way
arround.

You can check which axis order you have with the following code:

    System.out.println(sourceCRS);

and look at the order in which AXIS[...] element appears.

If you really want (longitude, latitude) axis order, use

   sourceCRS = CRS.decode(sourceSys, true);

> Hey all,
>
> Perhaps to clarify things a little...
>
> GeoAPI should not really be affected by this standardization work. The
> fun work on GeoAPI such as defining new packages in GeoAPI and fixing
> existing packages to match improved understanding of the specifications
> can continue as is. GeoAPI will remain the place where all this
> interesting work and discussion takes place so all the productive
> communication should remain on the geoapi-devel mailing list.
>
> The standardization work is intended to help OGC members and users by
> bringing the conflicts which we encounter to the attention of the right
> bodies in the OGC and thereby to ISO. It should also formalize an API
> through which we believe it should be possible to build any of the OGC
> Web Services which are being designed at the OGC. To do this, we will be
> proceeding to formalize each GeoAPI package by declaring it standard.
> However, this will happen slowly; only once a package both has reached
> broad consensus in the GeoAPI community and has stopped changing beyond
> infrequent bug fixes will it be proposed for inclusion. So the only
> packages being brought into the standards will be the packages no one is
> talking about anymore---aka the boring stuff. In this initial effort, we
> consider the utility, metadata, and referencing to be the current
> "boring" packages. The work will be worse than boring but even tedious:
> meticulously documenting how GeoAPI has been defined. The discussions
> being handled on the OGC mailing lists should be equally boring,
> discussions such as meeting times or how one correctly writes up an OGC
> standard and brings it through the bureaucracy to get it passed.
>
> Now, don't you want to get involved? :-)
>>
>> The december 2008 OGC Technical Committee Meeting was held in Valencia (Spain).
>> We had a formal GeoAPI meeting Tuesday December 2 from 18h00 to 19h00. 12
>> peoples were attending. The slides can be viewed there:
>>
>>     http://portal.opengeospatial.org/files/?artifact_id=31509
>>
>> The meeting goal was to start a new official OGC Standard Working Group for
>> GeoAPI. We got enough interrested parties for starting the work (the minimum
>> according OGC rules is 3 different organisations). Peoples from the following
>> organisations have already expressed their interest (in alphabetical order):
>>
>> - Centre National d'études spatiales (CNES, France)
>>     - ERDAS
>>     - Geomatys (France)
>> - Institut Geographique National (IGN, France)
>> - Laboratoire des Sciences de l'Information et des Systèmes (LSIS, France)
>>
>> Peoples from CSRIO and gvSig wish to consult their hierarchy.
>>
>> The GeoAPI Standard Working Group (SWG) will initially focus their work on the
>> following packages:
>>
>>     - org.opengis.util
>>     - org.opengis.metadata
>>     - org.opengis.parameter
>>     - org.opengis.referencing
>>
>> Only the above packages would be OGC standard for the initial release, because
>> they are more stable and tested than other packages. All other packages will
>> probably move to a "pending" module. The official and the pending modules will
>> each have their own, separated, javadoc and JAR file in order to make clear what
>> is OGC standard and what is work in progress. Right after the above packages are
>> standardized, the GeoAPI SWG will shift its work to geometry, coverage and other
>> modules (in an order to be determined).
>>
>> Participation to the SWG is open to any OGC member. If you wish to participate
>> but are not an OGC member (and do not work for a compagny that could afford to
>> be an OGC member), OSGEO can provide membership for a limited number of
>> individuals. To participate, login to the OGC portal using your account and
>> register yourself to the GeoAPI SWG (to be created on the OGC portal in about
>> two weeks).
>>
>> If you are not an OGC member, don't worry. We got an agreement for keeping the
>> discussion on the public GeoAPI mailing list hosted on SourceForge. The SVN is
>> likely to stay on SourceForge too (an alternative could be to move to OSGEO).
>> Your comments will still welcome as they are today.
>>
>> The initial work of the Standard Working Group would be:
>>
>> - Document the general rules and policies.
>>
>> - Check the interfaces defined in the initial list of packages
>> (see above) and make sure they matches latest standards.
>>
>> - Make sure that any departure from ISO standard are documented
>>   and have good justification.
>>
>> - Make sure that any extension (GeoTools-specific interfaces
>> or method) are documented and have good justification.
>>
>> Of course existing interfaces may be debated.
>>
>> I will post a new email when registration will be open on the OGC portal.
>>

Dear all,
I have seen some olderthreads on this topic, but I am still getting
non-sensical results.
I know the coordinates that I should get in CH1903 (well, at least what
I get in ArcMap fits with all other datasets...)

Coordinate p1WGS = new Coordinate(8.963944444444444,47.346805555555555);
I would expect values such as
Coordinate p1CH = new Coordinate(715253.258,245114.108);//approximate,
from arcmap
instead, the x is waaaay off:
x: 1.0735073726643294E7 y: 245114.46377226454

I have found an specification of the system that someone tunned
xx1903="PROJCS[\"CH1903_LV03\",GEOGCS[\"GCS_CH1903\",DATUM[\"D_CH1903\",SPHEROID[\"Bessel_1841\",6377397.155,299.1528128]],PRIMEM[\"Greenwich\",0],UNIT[\"Degree\",0.017453292519943295]],PROJECTION[\"Hotine_Oblique_Mercator_Azimuth_Center\"],PARAMETER[\"False_Easting\",600000],PARAMETER[\"False_Northing\",200000],PARAMETER[\"Scale_Factor\",1],PARAMETER[\"Azimuth\",90],PARAMETER[\"Longitude_Of_Center\",7.439583333333333],PARAMETER[\"Latitude_Of_Center\",46.95240555555556],UNIT[\"Meter\",1]]";
