questions about JaiMemoryCapacity

Hi all,

I ran into an issue when recently running wms cite tests. It seems that
in some configurations JaiMemoryCapacity is a double, and a percentage
of available memory, example "0.5". But in other configurations it seems
it is a long, and an absolute value, example "209715200".

My question is which one wins? If you look at
GeoServerDTO.Defaults.JaiMemoryCapacity it would point to long but
GeoServerDTO.getJaiMemoryCapacity() it points to double.

After talking to Andrea on IRC it seems the double is the way to go. But
I am confused why i have not run into this issue before... since I have
run wms cite tests many times with the new configuration stuff on 1.7.

Anyone have an idea of what may be causing this?

Ciao Filippo,
I guess that to help you out we need more info on your geotiff file,
as well as on how you are trying to load it.
If needed, we can give you the link to our own ftp server so that you
can upload a sample tiff file.

Anyway, it would be helpful if you could provide us with a gdalinfo on
your geotiff file in order to understand if it is correct or not.

Hi Toan,

GeoServer 1.5.3 is a bit out dated... 1.7.0 is currently the stable
version. And in particualr with regard to handling dates much work has
been done. You may want to try a newer version of GeoServer to see if
the issue is fixed. If not we can look into it deeper.

I have no idea... can you share a copy of the GeoTIFF file
so that we can have a look at it? (private mail is ok)

Image-IO extensions on an XP x64 box

Hi folks.

I have Geoserver running on a Windows XP x64 box. I have installed the
Image-IO extensions, and managed to get them working. However, what I
cannot get to work is making all of this start as a service. If I run
from the Startup.bat, all is well. However, if I install as a service,
all of the Coverage plug-ins associated with Image-IO are not there.

I realize this is a fairly non-standard setup, but if anyone has any
ideas, I would appreciate hearing them.

Could not obtain a reader for the CoverageDataSet

When trying to create a CoverageStore from a GeoTIFF file, i get the following error:

The following exception was thrown:
org.vfny.geoserver.global.ConfigurationException: Could not obtain a reader for the CoverageDataSet. Please check the CoverageDataSet configuration!

The CoverageStore seems to be created anyway, but when i try to create a new Coverage with it i get the same error.

What does it mean?

The filter syntax is valid for CQL language.

soft freeze on 1.7.x

Hi all,

We are getting close to ready to release GeoServer 1.7.1. I would like
to put a soft freeze in place on 1.7.x until Monday. By "soft freeze" i
mean only bug fixes and regression fixes.

If anyone needs to commit something not bug fix related in the next few
days I can create the release tag earlier than planned to get out of the
way. Just let me know.

It's understandable that we don't have Andrea's email address be a part of the default confuiguration anymore, but I would much rather see the default name be "Set Your Contact Info" or "Contact Person Not Set" rather than Mr. Ptolomaeus. (Also, it links to a gmail account. If we have to put in a dummy email address, let's change to example.com.)

It should be possible to simply enter 31467 as the SRS (in the feature
type editor) and choose the default SRS handling to ignore the native
