Geo-tagged pages in wikipedia

I'm sure someone will have suggested this before (in fact i'm betting it is
already implemented in some form) but here goes anyway.

Wikipedia has a lot of great pages about places and many of those pages are
tagged with the co-ordinates of the pages.

With mobile devices with web  and GPS becoming more and more common it would
be wonderful if wikipedia had the ability to return pages 'close' to a given
location.

Such an application does already exist (but might need to be adapted for
mobile devices), made by [[:de:User:Kolossos]]
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProjekt_Georeferenzierung/Wikipedia-World/en

example:
http://toolserver.org/~kolossos/wp-world/umkreis.php?la=en&lon=13.7333333333333&lat=51.0333333333333&rang=10&map=0

rang= is the range in kilometers
set map=1 for a simple 2d scatter plot of the links

But doesn't Google do this already? I mean, open up a Google map of
your current location, and then enable the wikipedia layer (by
clicking on the more button). The WP articles with geo-tags, that are
located in your viewing map area, will show up.

First of all, the toolserver tool came first, looong before Google had WP
links, secondly: no, Google doesn't do this already. The toolserver script
can return a _list_ of links with distances.
