Gentoo fastcgi

I am running an ~amd64 system and simply using portage and all works
fine.  I have been using mod_fastcgi which was recently hard masked.  It
looks like they want people to switch to mod_fcgid.  I haven't taken the
time to follow up on this, but you may find this link

Is there a reason you are not doing an emerge using portage?
