Hi,
Google has just provided a revised forecast of the project slot
allocation for Summer of Code 2008. Currently, GIMP is at 5 slots, out
of the 7 we could handle.
Google has an additional ~60 slots to spare, but there are 175 projects.
Even if they'd allocate them by random, there'll only be a ~34% chance
to get one additional slot.
So we should make it a top priority to get the best and most viable
projects into the Top 5, and have a strong one on the sixth place in
case we get lucky.
Final slot allocations will be announced on Wednesday, ranking closes on
April 18 07:00 UTC.
