GRAMPS 2.1.90 released

Hello world,

The next unstable version of GRAMPS, 2.1.90, is now available
for download:
   http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=25770&package_id=121273
This is an early beta release of the next generation of gramps,
the 2.2 version, expected to be released in the near future.

At this moment, only source code is available, but packages
are being built as I type this. They will appear at the same
location as they become available.

This version is still unstable software, so a few warnings first.
Don't use it on your only copy of the data. Back your data up
before opening *anything* with the new version.

In particular, when the new version opens the grdb database from
gramps 2.0.x, the database is upgraded to the new internal format.
As is always the case with unstable software, unforeseen things
may happen and upgrade may prematurely stop. But once the upgrade
started, the file will not open in the stable 2.0.x version anymore.
If not careful, one can end up with the data unusable in either stable
or unstable versions. I can't stress it too much:
   BACK UP YOUR DATA before testing the unstable release.
   YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

That said, we would like people to test the software and report
problems, discuss rough edges, and make suggestions. The bugs
should be reported at http://bugs.gramps-project.org (one needs
to register an account to file bugs, this prevents spammers
from using our site for their purposes). Issues can be discussed
on gramps-users (general user interest) or gramps-devel mailing
lists.

This release introduces quite a lot of new things to gramps.
Some of them are listed at http://gramps-project.org/whats_new/
but there's more to it than can be usefully listed on a single
web page.

Please try it out (with due precautions) and help us stabilize
it for everybody's benefit!

I think that one thing that needs to be stressed is that with this
release, GRAMPS 2.1/2.2 moves out of the alpha stage and into the beta
stage.

While this is an early beta, it is a beta release. This means we are
comfortable with more people testing the code.
