FYI:

The problems with libnettle 1.15 was fixed earlier this week and it's
now part of the snapshots. And since I've been using libgmp 4.2.1 for
quite some time now I upgraded the 4.1.4 used by the snapshot builder.

These are also the versions that will be included in dists unless
4.2.2 has some compelling fixes we need. Speaking of, where has
http://www.swox.com/gmp/ gone? There is no GMP page there any more,
much less a changelog...

http://gmplib.org/ is the new place. Speaking of that, anyone know
where to find up-do-date snapshots (e.g. a CVS repository) of GMP? The
status page hints at a minor update this month and I'd like to preview
the changes if possible to see if there's anything build-related.

The nettle patches are only related to a peripheral stuff like docs
and test programs, right? I've built nettle 1.15 separately for our
internal purposes without any patches and I'm not aware of any
incompatibilties.

Yes.

Not incompatibilities, just build problems in some
environments. See bundles/patches.

One or two of the fixes and the Intel speedups in 4.2.2 sounds
compelling, so it will be part of the next snapshot.

Speaking of that, I should mention that it's not yet possible to link
GMP on x86_64 for OS X 10.5 together with dynamic Pike modules since
ld in 10.5 got rid of a crucial "-read_only_relocs warning" flag. My
ugly fix in our compilations is to turn off dynamic modules entirely
on that architecture but a more fine-granular on/off switch will
probably have to be developed later.
