I would like to build a RCP application where users can visually design a workflow, save  it as an xml file and retrieve it for eploration if necessary. For this I need an Icon pallete(dynamically build from data from a backend database)which users can drag and drop the nodes onto the design panel to visually contruct his workflow (just like the BPEL module palette).

Secondly, and most importantly, I would like the user to save the whole workflow as an XML file containing nodes, connectons and attributes. Alternatively, it would be nice also to just store the individual nodes, connections, attributes and the topology info directly into a database.

Lastly I want to be able to query this database and display the same workflow scene using the visual database explorer.

So is it possible to convert my scene to an XML file? or save the individual components directly to a backend database. And if so how can I go about it?

Any ideas will be much welcome.

Moses
