But there hasn't been any flaming. And I'm afraid "to prevent it" sounds a bit like the catch-all "national security" excuse used dubiously by some governments to justify doing whatever they want.. >I do not just download headers and then have to pick which message >bodies to download later. Nor do I want to. That's your privilege. But surely that privilege does not extend to requiring that other subscribers make only postings that you are interested in. >Lastly regarding Adrian's suggestion that "the IT Director now contact >FreeParking directly to resolve this issue. Apparently you did take it up with >Freeparking but didn't bother to send me their response (and still haven't). >I await it with interest. highly-technical conversation between two organisations each of which think the other is wrong would be unpleasant and unproductive for me. I therefore abandoned the issue when the newsgroup started working again so I didn't have use the list by email. I would not have become involved with it again, except that the IT director emailed me about it, coincident with concerns being expressed by others about list management, and then posted a description of my situation which I disagreed with. However, I still don't want to be the man-in-the-middle. I have notified the IT director of a technical problem with the list, and confirmed that it does exist. He knows how to get in touch with the other party concerned (FP). I am sure it will be more effective if he and FP communicate directly. I can't see any reason for me to be further involved between them, so I intend not to. I will await the resolution of the problem with interest. Adrian Adrian Stott Tel.
