Well if you look at his career: Reggiana, Parma, Juventus and Milan then the most logical next step for Ancelottio to take would be managing the national team. Certainly can't see managing another team in Serie A at least for the time being. Not sure he'd be that highly rated for top jobs in La Liga and the Premiership either. However as for next national team manager i'm not so sure. He'll always be linked to the job, his record speaks for itself, but I think he's more likely to see out his contract with Milan, so I think he'll defiantely be manager of the national team one just not the next manager. Milan have had a poor season and i'm sure he wants to turn that around and rebuild the squad and bring back the sucess. Maybe after World Cup 2010 he'll be ready for job.

The problem with most Itlaian grounds is that they are not owned by the clubs, hence why a running track was built at Delle Alpi and has never been used for a major athletics event. Torino purchased the Olimpico and then Juve became tennants when plans were being considered to redevelop the Delle Alpi.

Attendances have never been good, its rarely beem sold out in its history, the running track, location and view from seats have kept the fans away and brought about the plans to make the ground smaller - which i believe would make Juve the only european to do such a thing.

The Delle Apli is a poor stadium that shows what happens when you don't leave the input and design to people outside of the football world. Now there may be little incentive to put those plans in action.

It's interesting to see how stadiums differ in the UK and Italy, not only in terms of design but also ownership.

Hey Tim

There are only a handfull of players to have ever represented both sides in the "Derby della Capitale" and have been heavily criticesed for doing so by the supporters.

With the clubs being such fierce rivals the few players to have actually played for both Roma & Lazio have had to make the move via another club

However In terms of a direct transfer between the two clubs the only one I know of is Arne Selmosson who is the only player to have scored for both Lazio and Roma in the Derby spent moved in 1958 to Roma.

So its not a particularly modern example but thats the only example that I believe exists

Hope this helps

With the Delle Alpi now lying empty, will it ever be rebuilt and will it attract the fans? Juventus are throwing money away buy purchasing it from the council and later becoming tennants at the Stadio Olimpico.

Hang on, your argument is flawed there, you've left Maldini out, Dida is only 34 he can keep going for at least 4 more seasons. Gilardino has been a flop and they can't bring Cheva back, that would just send them down the same path they are following now. All change at the very top bring in "the special one"

Bonera (26) Nesta (31) Kaladze (30) Jankulauski(30)

There are some players in their peak there, adding the older ones just adds experience, although i do agree that its time for inzaghi, ronaldo, cafu and emerson to move on. I think they should buy Amelia or Frey to go in goal though, as kalac and dida are pretty old.

He's good, but time to bring the next batch through i'm afraid.

Anyway Italy to win euro 2008 and an emotional Maldini to retire

Asides from Maldini to name a few:
Pippo 34
Seedorf 32
Fat Ron 32 - will not make a significant comeback
Ba 35
Ambrossini 30
Emerson 31
Cafu 37
oddo 31

All the wrong side of 30

Milan are a big club and should be seen to invest in new talent

Ranieri wants to sign Lampard again. A good move Juve and would be a good move for Frank, a chance for him to make a fresh start and get away from the problems at Chelsea. But he won't leave for Juve, he's English, knows he'll struggle to adapt to life outside England. If he leaves then he may go to Barca but my bet he's he stays put and takes the easy route.

There's too much money invested in the english game, not too many foreign players.

My response to that is no - i know that age is the first thing that everyone brings up when milan lose, but i think that Maldini has been one of the best players in the last few games. Against arsenal he was strong, and is was a run from his own area, 70 yards that set up the second, and decisive 2nd goal for milan against Empoli yesterday. Forza Maldini!! what a legend.

Is Maldini really still ableto cut in Europe and at the top of Serie A at this stage in his career? At 39 he is contemplating staying on for another season. Should he have retired after winning the Champions League and now regrets not finishing on a high after the season Milan have had.

Kaka has slammed Milan's performance this season, surely half the problem is an ageing team costing a rediculous amount in wages. It's time to develop new talent and change things at the the top.
