Font size and color of subtitles

by Dr. Muhammad Masroor Ali :: Rate this Message:

When I tuned the srt files in gnome subtitles, the subtitles were sufficiently large and white in color. But after I added them in qdvdauthor, the size is very small and colors are white mixed with red. This is unreadable and do not look good.

Could you please give me some hints how can I manipulate this? I am ready to do some tweaking (if necessary) from command line.

Thanks.

Previously I added the subtitle from movie properties. I did not notice the subtitle pane, this provides all kinds of controls. Sorry, I did not notice it before. Newbies.

Tutorial/screencast on subtitle positioning

by Dr. Muhammad Masroor Ali :: Rate this Message:

Dear All,
I have been using qdvdauthor for more than a month and like it immensely.

I tried different options with subtitle geometry (with ten minute clips to save the execution time), but somehow the results are always the same. The mystery eludes me.

Do you think that you can point me to any tutorial/screencast on subtitle positioning in qdvdauthor. Google returned none.

Thanks.

I had the same, many problems with subtitling and not being able to
change any of the parameters. I think they are stuck hardcoded or
something (so it seems).

I never found a solution and gave up.

There was a bug that caused all subtitle geometry info to be
ignored. Additionally, there is an issue for PAL projects, see
"subtitle gemometry and transparency" on the SF help forum

Adding an Intro does not work in qdvdauthor

by Dr. Muhammad Masroor Ali :: Rate this Message:

Reply to Author | View Threaded | Show Only this Message

Dear All,
I can not tell you what a big fan of qdvdauthor I have become in a short
period of time. This morning, I tried adding an intro for the first time, but
it failed. The menu appears alright, but this is not preceded by the intro movie.

I am using the latest version (released at the start of this month).

Do you have an advice/tips for me?

I am attaching the xml files.

It appears that the attached xml file got nuked.

So, here it is unattached. See, the intro.mpg line is there, but it does not
seem to work.

Further update on intro problem.

Now I find that may be it is a problem with vlc. While vlc fails to show the
intro, it works like a charm in xine. Any explanation?

I need to see whether it works when actually burned on a DVD and played on my
(Philips) player. I want to decide that tomorrow, because right now I do not
need a coaster.
