Feature idea: speed in track log + total covered distance

Would it not be easy to record the speed in the track log? GPX also supports it, but GPSdrive does not use it.
It would also be nice to have a display of total covered distance in the UI.

I am writing a small standalone tool to extract speed and distance from coordinates in GPSdrive track logs.

If you have a tracklog with one second samples you might encounter large
errors in you resulting speed, depending on the acuracy of your timestams.
