Fast IO Disallowed

hello all,

i recently installed the Sony DRU 840A burner (firmware SS01) on my
windows XP PC.  it works fine for everything that any app wants to
do, except for EAC 095b4.  in EAC 095b4, it will allow me to extract
CDs, etc. but, when i want to burn a CD...  it starts off with
the 'determining power setting' and then it starts burning the lead-
in (at which point the burner light goes out), the lead-in takes
about 30 sec., then it sits there, the burner spinning and the light
off.  so i cancel, and after canceling, it burns a lead-out and then
EAC just sits there.  checking with process monitor, i see that EAC
is getting a "Fast IO Disallowed" along with "DeviceIoControl" and
a "Control: 0x4d014".  to get out of EAC, and to take out the CD, i
have to restart my PC.  when i check the CD afterwards, it
is 'empty'.

i have tried the more or less usual 'stuff' - uninstalling the
drivers for the CD burner, i had uninstalled EAC before installing
the burner then installed EAC, uninstalling EAC and re-installing
it, and running EAC in win2000 compatibility mode, restarting each
time.  i keep getting that "fast io disallowed" message and no
burning.  this is the second sony  burner, of that model, that i
have tried - the first had the same issues.  i had no problems with
my previous burner.

what can i tweak to get rid of that issue and make EAC burn on this
burner?

i have tried EAC 099b4, with CDRDAO - still get the same problem,
same message, same system issues.  odd thing is that EAC can burn a
test CD.  for real music - fast io disallowed.

Try disabling the windows service "wdfm?g.???" which is the DRM part
(note this will also fix the non-ripping BladeEnc 0.92+) etc.

Hope it works
John
