Thanks Blair,

I added a virtual directory to my site in IIS (development) and it all
works perfectly.

What do most people do for security in production when they want to
use flash forms but not have the cf administrator available?
Cheers,
> The file upload formtool is currently setup to use flash forms to provide a
> progress bar. You can either provide access to the flash forms stuff in
> CFIDE or change the default back to HTML. I think there's another thread on
As you can see there are three properties using Month(). This file was
last modified in January.

> Just shooting the breeze here... stack traces are tough to decipher
> but it looks like you are running the getDefaultObject() function
> (which may be linked to creating a faux object for the filter), and
> then blowing a gasket on a month() function. Need to confirm that
> your formtool metadata is generating valid default content --
> especially date content.

I noticed I will get the same error now when I try to create a new
record (I can edit existing records). So I guess the formtool dislikes
the content metadata when it creates the faux object for either
filtering on the data or creating a new record.

> If the content type can be cleanly deployed and then doesn't generate
> the error you are experiencing then i'd suggest its a data issue --
> how many records in this table? What database are you using?

There are only 16 records in our table for demo purpose. Admin/COAPI/
Type Classes shows my CPAJ content type is depolyed. COAPI Flex beta
showed no conflicts within this content type. COAPI Metadata crashed
my IE7 and COAPI Schema returned a blank page. I'm wondering if I
should re-deploy the content type. But how?

Thanks again.

> The file upload formtool is currently setup to use flash forms to provide a
>> But now my users won't be able to filter on content. Can someone tell
>> me why it's been working fine for months then suddenly behaves this
>> way?
>
> It's not an error I've seen. But it sounds like the system is getting
> something unexpected from the database or alternatively applying the
> filter there is something wrong with something like the casting of
> certain values.

I'd suggest something has changed ;) Rarely do things suddenly happen
with no reason.

Can you send through the code for the dmCPAJ content type --
specifically the cfproperty tags. Can you tell from your version
control system if this file has changed at all in recent times?

Just shooting the breeze here... stack traces are tough to decipher
but it looks like you are running the getDefaultObject() function
(which may be linked to creating a faux object for the filter), and
then blowing a gasket on a month() function. Need to confirm that
your formtool metadata is generating valid default content --
especially date content.

If the content type can be cleanly deployed and then doesn't generate
the error you are experiencing then i'd suggest its a data issue --
how many records in this table? What database are you using?

>> qgetData (Datasource=farcry, Time=15ms, Records=0) in E:\farcry\core
>> \packages\fourq\_fourq\getData.cfm @ 16:26:21.021
>> SELECT
>> title,coAuthor,teaserImage,thirdAuthor,displayMethod,publishDate,datetimecr eated,vol,expiryDate,status,mainPage,commentlog,Teaser,createdby,publisher Letter,Body,datetimelastupdated,ownedby,label,num,catContents,subTitle,fea ture,versionID,author,lastupdatedby,ObjectID,locked,lockedBy
>> FROM DBO.dmCPAJ
>> WHERE ObjectID = 'E5744CF4-1A4B-F8A3-945594B8574C9658'
>
>> The thing is, it's supposed to be a custom admin for listing content
>> objects. Why FarCry was looking for an unexisting object in my content
>> table?

This is a standard getData() call. If it returns 0 records it will
generate an empty struct. This is unlikely to be your issue.

>> Are you saying that this query returns no result if you run it in
>> isolation in a query tool?
>
> Yes, I looked for that objectId in both my content table and the
> refObjects table. It's not there. Actually the objectId has not been
> unique. After a while, it returned a different but still unexisting
> objectId.

The filter form essentially creates a "dummy" object for the formtools
engine to act on. So its not unusual to have in-memory only objects
that are not represented in the database.
Thanks Geoff, as we already have a lot of FarCry 3 sites running in
production going to 5 will be a little tricky as it involves a new CF
instance (because we already have a CF mapping /farcry for version 3).

Although a new instance isn't really that hard to setup, it poses more
internal issues which is why I thought it might be easier to just to
go 3 particularly as this project is small and really won't have much
more development feature wise.

Still...it might be worth leading the charge now to have FarCry 5
capabilities!

Thanks again,
> > straight to the lovely new version 5.
>
> It might be easier to just build a 5.0 solution direct and migrate the
>
> If you want to go down the "upgrader" route you need to run each
> updater between your current version and the version you are upgrading
> to. For example, you would deploy 3.02 code base, run all the
> installers for b3xx, then install 4.0.10 and run all the b4xx. Once
> you have a stable version of 4.0 the 5.0 upgrader is really pretty
> cool and should take care of most things for you automatically.
>
> You will likely come unstuck with changes to media asset storage --
> this is something you'll need to code around. Plus any custom types,
>
> Not sure how that would fix the problem unless you were actually
> filtering something at the time -- and the filter itself was causing
> an issue. If you restart CF (ie. remove everything from memory) does
> the initial still continue?
>

I restarted CF and the problem persisted.

>
>
Only if I can find out why it's trying to a casting...

> > > qgetData (Datasource=farcry, Time=15ms, Records=0) in E:\farcry\core
> > > FROM DBO.dmCPAJ
> > > WHERE ObjectID = 'E5744CF4-1A4B-F8A3-945594B8574C9658'
>
> > > The thing is, it's supposed to be a custom admin for listing content
> > > objects. Why FarCry was looking for an unexisting object in my content
> > > table?
>
> Are you saying that this query returns no result if you run it in
> isolation in a query tool?
>

Yes, I looked for that objectId in both my content table and the
refObjects table. It's not there. Actually the objectId has not been
unique. After a while, it returned a different but still unexisting
objectId.

> You might try running the ADMIN > COAPI > Fix refObjects utility. Its
> a long shot but its designed to clean up inconsistencies in the
> database schema.
>
I tried that. It did not help.

> Best of luck,
> for incident support.
Thanks for trying to help. We have been evaluating FarCry for months.
If this weird situation does not get resolved. We will be forced to

I added more fields to my component (webskin and status)
Went back to scaffold and created the the Administration again

Now when I go to add or edit, the web form has two 'General Details' sections with the form fields in each
