You can just copy the CFIDE directory and delete the administrator directory from the copy.

I noticed I will get the same error now when I try to create a new
record (I can edit existing records). So I guess the formtool dislikes
the content metadata when it creates the faux object for either
filtering on the data or creating a new record.

There are only 16 records in our table for demo purpose. Admin/COAPI/
Type Classes shows my CPAJ content type is depolyed. COAPI Flex beta
showed no conflicts within this content type. COAPI Metadata crashed
my IE7 and COAPI Schema returned a blank page. I'm wondering if I
should re-deploy the content type. But how?

specifically the cfproperty tags. Can you tell from your version
control system if this file has changed at all in recent times?

This is a standard getData() call. If it returns 0 records it will
generate an empty struct. This is unlikely to be your issue.

The filter form essentially creates a "dummy" object for the formtools
engine to act on. So its not unusual to have in-memory only objects
that are not represented in the database.

Thanks Geoff, as we already have a lot of FarCry 3 sites running in
production going to 5 will be a little tricky as it involves a new CF
instance (because we already have a CF mapping /farcry for version 3).

Although a new instance isn't really that hard to setup, it poses more
internal issues which is why I thought it might be easier to just to
go 3 particularly as this project is small and really won't have much
more development feature wise.

Still...it might be worth leading the charge now to have FarCry 5
capabilities!

I have be thinking about this approach was thinking that there should be minimal CF in the webskins (maybe DateFormat kind of stuff).
The data extracting and packaging should be done elsewhere
and the webskin would just be dealing with stObj structure and placing data variables within the HTML.

It might be easier to just build a 5.0 solution direct and migrate the
data from the 2.0 version. Data migration scripts would be pretty
straight forward to write.

If you want to go down the "upgrader" route you need to run each
updater between your current version and the version you are upgrading
to. For example, you would deploy 3.02 code base, run all the
installers for b3xx, then install 4.0.10 and run all the b4xx. Once
you have a stable version of 4.0 the 5.0 upgrader is really pretty
cool and should take care of most things for you automatically.

You will likely come unstuck with changes to media asset storage --
this is something you'll need to code around. Plus any custom types,
etc written for 2.0 will need to be thrown out and re-written for 5.0.

Upgrading FarCry 2 to 3

Hi guys,

I have a strange scenario where it might be easier to upgrade a site
from FarCry version 2 (I think 2.3) to version 3 instead of jumping
straight to the lovely new version 5.

My question is really a clarification; does anyone know if simply
running the updater (/farcry/updates/b301.cfm) will be fine for this?
I can't remember if any database changes need to be made, anyone know?

This is probably just posting to the wrong page (see your form action).
In a normal situation, you will be on a page like this:
/index.cfm?objectid=UUID. You are simply posting to index.cfm. You
need #cgi.SCRIPT_NAME#?#cgi.QUERY_STRING# or some other combination of
variables that will get you what you need. I often use
#fu.getFU(request.navid)# or
#application.url.conjurer#?objectid=#request.navid#

cfform in farcry v4

Hi folks

Ive setup a basic contact form test using cfform:

This works fine when I test it using cfmx server, but when I copy the
code into a farcry page, the "required" elements seem to be bypassed,
making the form submittable without completing any fields.

Does Farcry handle cfform differently to a normal cfmx driven site ?

Rules are managed by the object broker, in just the same way normal
content types are. So if you want to apply webskin caching to your
rule, and overrides in projects then you should generate the view just
the same as you would for content types -- ie. by using the webskin
engine.

I have be looking at the rules created by Scaffold and comparing them to what comes with FarcryCMS plugin
and have noticed they are quite different.

Scaffold creates an execute.cfm in the webskin directory for the rule
Is this best practice?
Is this the way rules should be built now?

I had this same thing happen recently. And like you it was because some items (or one item) had a wizard step assigned, where others did not. Because I didn't want steps, I just removed all references to ftwizardstep and updated the app scope.
