Hi,

I remember seeing something a while back about FOP supporting the ability to reference a PDF instead of a graphic? Is this possible in 0.20.5?

Thanks,

Phil

Hi,

There is no support for inserting PDFs as an external-graphic format
in fop-0.20.5. It is also not yet supported in FOP 0.9x, although
there are some workarounds.

In both versions you can use a PDF post-processor[2] (e.g., iText) to
manipulate the PDF outputted by FOP.

In the case of the fop-0.94, fop-0.95x & fop-TRUNK branch (the
currently developed branch of FOP), you can use the FOP Embedded PDF
plugin[2].

I hope this helps!

What makes you classify the plugin as a workaround? I consider this to
be full support for importing PDFs via fo:external-graphic. Perhaps I am
nit picking slightly, but I just didn't want to let readers of this list
think its not possible in 0.9x when it is!

Your right baout 0.20.5, no way to import PDFs there I'm afraid.

You are correct! I was referring to a belief (hope?) that someday
external-graphics support for the PDF format will someday, magically
make its way into FOP. ;-)

Thanks for the clarification, Chris!
