F10A interaction with VirtualBox 1.6.4I am running VirtualBox 1.6.4 on Windows Vista 64 and when I
run the test on the DVD it works just fine, but once it completes the test it
must eject it or something. Once the test is completed it can’t
find the DVD. I have to reboot to see it and then it installs just fine.
So not sure what is going on there. Also do we really need Dial up to be installed by
default? I haven’t used dial up for a few years. Could we
maybe make it smarter and check for a modem, before loading that? Or even
a serial port. Thanks, Jerry Williams -- fedora-test-list mailing list fedora-test-list@... To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-test-list |

Even when I used dialup, only one computer used the dialup software, any others shared the connexion. All the way back to when I used OS/2. -- Cheers John -- spambait 1aaaaaaa@... Or even a serial port. I'm not sure what you mean by dial-up, but there are still e.g. gprs/edge/adsl modems that are using ppp etc. even thou it's not a majority it is not completely useless. > Thanks, > > Jerry Williams > Adam Pribyl -- fedora-test-list mailing list fedora-test-list@... RE: F10A boot.iso bug?Looks like Fedora 10 Alpha boot.iso may
have a bug. When I boot from the cd and select ok instead
of skip and then select eject it ejects the cd, but once I do that I can never
get it to take the cd back. I have to reboot to be able to see the cd
again. Also it does fail the media check, but
seems to work fine otherwise. I tried the boot.iso on VirtualBox and it
passes the media test, so maybe I have an issue with the burn with Nero. So what is the deal with boot.iso?
It is like 104M which is much bigger than 7-9Mb that Red Hat 5 or Fedora 8 is. And it doesn’t give me an option to
do an NFS or URL install, so I am guessing that it does the install over the
network? Or I am guessing that I have to use the
method or ks option on the command line when I boot? Looks like it changed in Fedora 9. I am not sure I like the larger
image. Not a great thing when doing a boot on an iLo over a wan and want
to do local nfs install. Jerry Williams -- fedora-test-list mailing list fedora-test-list@... To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-test-list |

The new boot.iso now contains the stage2.img or whatever, which is why it's a lot bigger. > And it doesn’t give me an option to do an NFS or URL install, so I am > guessing that it does the install over the network? Yep, noticed that too. But you now select which way to do the install about 3/4 way through it or so. It will initially start by having http type install but you can select cd/dvd, nfs, whatever and put a checkmark next to the repositories that you want to use to select packages from. -- Mike Chambers Fedora Project - Ambassador, Bug Zapper, Tester, User, etc.. mikec302@... -- fedora-test-list mailing list fedora-test-list@... RE: F10A boot.iso bug?I can see that if this becomes Red Hat 6 it is going to be a pain, since I
do a lot of remote stuff. And as of yet haven't been able to get control of PXE on a large network. So what I need is something like the PXE boot only an iso that I can boot from and just give it a ks file on the command line. I wouldn't say get rid of the 104Mb boot.iso, but I would like it to be a little more obvious as to what it is doing and where is getting the install from. Most of the time I have a local network source and it might be nice to be able to tell it to use it. But I would also like some kind very small boot.iso that maybe is called ksboot.iso that is only intended to be given a ks file and that is it.
