Hi all,

I was informed by Lintian that emboss-explorer was not respecting the
FHS by placing its files in /var/www, and this lead me into two weeks of
work in which I discovered how to run a website from within
/usr/share/package, /usr/lib/cgi-bin and /var/lib/package, and how to
tell apache2 to find the files.

However, I am still a complete beginner in this field, so I would be
really releived if somebody could have a look at my changes.

Bonus question: should apache2 be restarted when upgrading
emboss-explorer, that ships a file in /etc/apache2/conf.d?

Have a nice day,

Charles

While beeing not an apache expert this sounds really sensible.
I'd have a look into other packages that are shiping those files
and copy from their {pre, post}* scripts.

Kind regards

          Andreas.

I probably will since I have to learn that for one of my packages, too.

Since Apache may take quite some time to restart, "reload"ing should be
sufficient since you do not load any modules or alike.

Best regards
Manuel
