Error during clean up

Hi,

Today we have a problem with a folder appears locked. The user report us
that she only update the folder.

The error message points a file under a folder. As the user unchanged
anything under de folder, we remove all the files under the folder and
gave an update.

The files didn't return to the folder and asks for a CleanUp.

As the message asks we did a CleanUp and receive the message:

"Subversion reported an error while doing a cleanup!
In directory 'c:\xxx'
Error processing commando 'modify-wcprop' in
'c:\folder'
'c:\folder\file.x' is not under version control"

We must create another work copy... Why did it probably happen?

Hi Carlos,

if you deleted or changed files and you want them back, you have to
"revert" these changes. Go to an upper directory and "revert" it. Your
files will be restored.

I tried to do the revert, the command showed the files deleted, but receive de error message:

“Error – Working copy ‘C:\folder-a\folder-b’ locked”

“Error – Please execute the “Cleanup” command”.

What could we do?

Hi Carlos,

if you deleted or changed files and you want them back, you have to

If that happens on every working copy, then check if you have two files
in the same folder with the same names (use the repo browser). If two
files differ only in case (e.g. FILE and file) then check our FAQ on how
to repair this.

It occurs 3 times (in almost 20 users we have, using svn for more than a month) 2 times with one user and 1 with another.

We don't have any duplicated file into the folder.

The error message tell us the folder is locked, but it doesn't.

As I told, we recreate in 3 cases another work area and solve the problem, but for us are very important to know how and why these problems were occurred, to avoid and to solve them quickly.

We've had mysterious lock/cleanup problems as well.

In some cases, the following works:
1. close all windows explorer windows
2. kill tsvncache process
3. do the cleanup/update operation from command line svn.

Unknown reasons why sometimes svn command line works, but tsvn continually complains. After the successful command line operation, tsvn seems happy too (until the next time).

Next time this happens, check the hidden .svn folder. There should be a
'tmp' folder in there. If that folder doesn't exist (maybe some cleaner
program removed it because it is usually empty or only contains empty
folders) then Subversion can throw error messages which not always are
accurate (i.e. they don't always tell that the tmp folder doesn't exist
but some other error because a function requiring that folder fails).
