Error and no clue where to look

Hello,

I try to build a T2 system and keep hanging at the linux header package.

I tried i686 first, then i486.
Before building Download -required to have all files at hand.
Cleanup before each new try.
I keep hanging here.

Where could I look?

Hm. I never saw a /root/tmp so far. Somehow a temporary
file was created there and is cought by some T2 sanity checks
that should prevent a) messing up your host system and b) not
yielding unwanted top-level files in the resulting new system.

Did you manually configure this temporary path location somehow?
Which operating system are you using?

Yours,

Hm. I never saw a /root/tmp so far.
This one was there already before the first compile attempt. And I cannot remember having it created manually.
It contains:
    kde-root/  ksocket-root/  mc-root/

In my environment (as root this is) I have:
    TMP=/root/tmp
    TMPDIR=/root/tmp

Somehow a temporary
file was created there and is cought by some T2 sanity checks
that should prevent a) messing up your host system and b) not
yielding unwanted top-level files in the resulting new system.

should I circumvent this check somehow? (How?)
Or should I set the TMP-Vars to something different?
Should I simply not use the temp file system in building?
Did you manually configure this temporary path location somehow?
Which operating system are you using?

It's Mandriva 2008.0

Regards
Matthias

Great. Notheless I added it to my TODO to adapt the "outside basedir"
filter to take a possibly defined TMPDIR into account.

Have fun,

next problem:

when building "archiver/mine [0.23 7.0-rc2]"

I get:

-> $root/var/adm/logs/0-mine.out -> 0-mine.err

the same part from 0-mine.err (with full compiler lines):

gcc check.o create.o install.o remove.o pkglist.o mkpdb.o showfile.o
showkey.o memdb.o md5.o md5sum.o mine.o avl.o cdb-0.75/cdb.a

libtar-1.2.11/lib/libtar.a  -o mine.static
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lc
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [mine.static] Error 1
Due to previous errors, no 0-mine.log file!
(Try enabling xtrace in the config to track an error inside the build
system.)
--- BUILD ERROR ---

What's this?  I assume there is a link to be made where an option "-lc"
is mistreated as a file name?
Where should I look this time?

Regards
Matthias
