ERROR while running 'sudo -u osm /usr/bin/osm2pgsql --database

the part I posted was the last part of the answer of terminal to "sudo
mapnik-updater.sh --all-planet-geofabrik=europe/italy", and has always
been working well with "sudo".
it worked perfectly yesterday on an amd64 installation with no errors
from the beginning.

So what was the problem/difference  in the posted problem?
