EMMS maintainershipHello, everyone.
It's probably not a surprise, but still sad for me - I have to ask for a new maintainer for EMMS. With the help of many people - that is, you all! - EMMS has very quickly evolved beyond what I originally thought I'd write, and way beyond what I wanted to use for myself. It's a funny feeling to be able to say I haven't used even a small fraction of the current EMMS modules :-) This results in me just applying whatever patch comes over, and not understanding any of it. It would probably be saner if someone who actually uses EMMS fully does that. Also, my personal work environment has changed a lot. I do not play music on the computer that my Emacs runs on anymore. MPD is not an option, either, because I change the computer I work on a lot, and just ssh to my Emacs. So basically, I'm rather detached from EMMS, and I don't see that changing any time soon. Would there be any volunteer to keep up the program? Re: EMMS maintainershipIs there anything wrong with how things are working right now? We trade patches on the mailing list, and occasionally Lukhas packages a tarball for people who don't want to do the distributed versioning system shuffle. It's definitely one of the more "distributed" projects I use, and I like it more for it. -- "Cut your own wood and it will warm you twice" _______________________________________________ Emms-help mailing list Emms-help@... http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/emms-help |

Well, you still need someone to make point releases. If no one else has a strong desire to take over this part, I am willing to do so. Either as "maintainer" or "release manager", whichever people are more comfortable with. -- | Michael Olson | FSF Associate Member #652 | | http://mwolson.org/ | Hobbies: Lisp, HCoop | | Projects: Emacs, Muse, ERC, EMMS, ErBot, DVC, Planner | `-------------------------------------------------------' _______________________________________________ Emms-help mailing list Emms-help@... http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/emms-help |

Hi Michael, > Well, you still need someone to make point releases. And someone who takes care of new patches (on the mailing list and on the other developers repositories) and incorporates them. > If no one else has a strong desire to take over this part, I am > willing to do so. Thanks, Michael - you are putting a lot of work into a lot of projects, I appreciate that. And you seem to have the support of the others working on EMMS. So (for what that "title" is worth), I'm more than happy to pass on maintainership of EMMS to you :-) Thanks again Michael and to everyone else. Happy hacking! :-) Regards, -- Jorgen _______________________________________________ Emms-help mailing list Emms-help@... http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/emms-help |

Jorgen, don't forget to mail him the keys to the Emms corporate jet. -- "Cut your own wood and it will warm you twice" _______________________________________________ Emms-help mailing list Emms-help@... http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/emms-help |
