EFW 2.2 Commercial vs. Community feature comparison inquiry...

Hi all,

In past releases have the commercial features the community version lacks been developed by the community for the community? I noticed 2.2 commercial has live ajax log viewer, user based web reports, group based web policies, policy based routing, and url blacklist definitions. These are features I'm interested in and wanted to know how strong the community is about bringing the "free" version up to the level of the "pay" version.

Thanks in advance!

Toby.

Would be grate ..
But then why buy the "pay" version .. thats why Endian keep a tight wrap
on their source code and only release when they feel it's safe for them
to do so .. The community on this project is mostly for debugging. would
be grate to have a more active community and have more access to the
latest code en devel tools. The project would evolve faster bugs would
be found quicker etc ...
just my 10c worth

I think the idea is that the next big project is moving Endian to a
public SVN as soon as community 2.2 is finally complete.  That's what
I heard.  I think they were thinking about starting in November but
I'd not be surprised if the devs were a touch late.  Anyone have more
details?

Endian is pretty handy, but it's progress is slow and inconvenient
because development is essentially closed source.  I think they know
if they continue this way they'll eventually be forked into a better
genuinely open distribution.  Might as well maintain control of the
project.  I'm praying for SVN.

I've been considering the fork-ing option for a long time now. Would be
a pity to have to do it ..

Thanks for the replies all. Guess all we can do now is wait and see what Endian will do regarding SVN.

for a xen-kernel look at http://www.neobiker.de/ftp/pub/efw-xen
i've compiled a FC8 XEN kernel to work with efw 2.2.
also look here to see how to get it working: http://www.ctserver.org/fpost15102.html#15102

it is a i686-PAE-Kernel, as most distro's are using PAE now...

Yes but I was more aiming at the netfilter and network related modules.

currently I selected all I could find (that was network related except the depricated stuff). I'm not sure if trimming it down to the stuff endian actually uses will matter or not but I like to cut out as much bloat as I can :)
