The methods buffer is cleared sometimes

Hi,

I'm now using ECB with CEDET, both of them are CVS version.

Everything was fine with it except i found that sometimes the content in methods buffer will be cleared. I do some experiments to figure out why and how it is ruined, but failed. Sometimes i minimize Emacs and use other apps, for example, use Firefox to write this mail, and when i come back, i found all the contents in methods buffer are gone. And sometimes, i just use C-n and C-p to read my cpp files, and suddenly the contents are gone.

But there're some things i can be sure of.

1. First-activate: the methods list are fine when i first activate ecb.
2. Re-activate: After the methods buffer are ruined, i changed to other buffer and changed back, the methods list will be fine again.
3. Manually Refresh: If i use ecb-windows-sync, the messages list will be fine agin.

Now i can only use ecb-windows-sync to refresh the messages list, and it's really not convenient. So, can this be solved? If there're some other infos i need or i can provide, plz let me know.

Let me put it like this:

ECB is not dead and it is maintained as good as possible - whereas possible
means "as good as my time allows"...

Heavy enhancements are currently not likely because i'm too busy...

But ECB has a very stable and mature status and works with all current Emacs...

If you have trouble to install (even after reading the docs! ;-) then please
do not hesitate to post your troubles here... i will try to help you...

Many of the packages haven't seen much activity, including JDEE and XAE,
but that doesn't mean they're dead. They are still used.

Hi,

please always send a problem-report with the command `ecb-submit-problem-report'.

Then: What is the value of the option `ecb-primary-secondary-mouse-buttons'?
Per defualt ECB responds to mouse-button 2 (middle mouse-button with
3-button mice).

But you can customize ECB to use the left/first mouse-button...
See the option `ecb-primary-secondary-mouse-buttons'...

Always use the comand `customize-option' to customize ECB!

no response after clicking on a directory

Hey,

I just installed ECB under Ubuntu, but it doesn't seems to respond to
mouse click on directory or file items.

This is the steps I followed:
1. sudo apt-get install ecb, it also installed the related package
cedet and eieic.
2. added lines to the .emacs file,
(add-to-list 'load-path
"/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/ecb/ecb.el")
(require 'ecb)
3. added source in the Emacs, which leads to the following line in the .emacs
'(ecb-source-path (quote ("/DATA/sychen/workspace/IPM" ("/" "/"))))

but the ECB simply doesn't respond. please help. thanks.

This is GNU Emacs 22.1.1 (i486-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.12.9)
Ubuntu 8.04- the Hardy Heron - released in April 2008.

initial-expand by adding 'f90-mode' (it's actually a list variable) and it's much better now.

First, I'm new to ECB and am finding it useful. Thanks to everyone for all their efforts in creating and improving this piece of software; Emacs really does need it.

Anyway, I'm using ECB for Fortran-90 code, which isn't supported under Semantic but is supported by imenu, and am finding that whenever I edit and save a file, all the trees in the methods buffer collapse. I would like them to either stay at their previous level of expansion or completely expand. I've tried setting ecb-expand-methods-switch-off-auto-expand to nil and using the menu option for toggling auto expansion of the methods buffer (C-c . a) but neither seems to have any effect. Does anyone know how to do this?

how to find #include files

Hello

I am using ECB 2.32 from debian testing for one of my projects.
Here are the files organisation of this project.

root
|-> include
| |->hkl
| |->f1.h
| |->f2.h
|-> src
|-> f1.c
|-> f2.c

when I started ecb with ecb-activate everything went fine and a
lots of buffers appeared.

1 the project files,
2 the files in the selected directory,
3 and analyse window
4 and the history at the left of the emacs edition buffer.

Now my problem is when I use the analyze buffer.
In the Includes node all the .h files are available
when I click on the <stdio.h> file everythings is fine it appears in
the edition buffer but when I click on one of my project .h files
nothing append.

How can I teach ECB where to find my .h files.

2005 and I'm wondering if ecb is still active. I think it is exactly
what I need for my development in emacs so I hope it is still an
active project. I wasn't able to install it and I need some help with
it.

I know that it's looking in default.el because, well, ECB is loading and activating on Emacs startup. But it seems to be ignoring both the tip of the day and the ecb-options-version settings :-(

It may help to point out that I'm reasonably new to Emacs, so it might be that I'm misunderstanding something fundamental here ...

The values of the following options are incompatible with current type. ECB has tried to transform the old-value to the new type. In cases where this was not possible ECB has reset to the current default-value.

... and I'm prompted to save some new configuration values. If I do, the following are saved in my .emacs file:

Emacs says I forgot to reply earlier. Sorry.

ECB attempts to make sure that various version numbers are up to
date. For some reason, your updated semantic version has no version
number. ie:

C-h v semantic-version RET

would say 'nil', or something like that.

If you do:

M-x locate-library RET semantic RET

it will tell you where Emacs wants to get Semantic from. Go there,
and check that the version is set. If it is set ok, then some other
code is being run before semantic does that is setting the version
number. Perhaps an old autoload file?

Flag this message How do you create a "cscope buffer window" in ecb ?

I'm trying to create a layout where there are only three windows. One on the right
which will be th main window where no matter what i do only source code
will be displayed.
Two on the left - the top one being the methods window and the bottom one is the
cscope buffer. The methods window is inbuild so no problem with that. Now
how do I create a cscope window.

I've tried creating one with the name *cscope*, but it still says it is still an unassigned buffer. This would be useful as we don't have to worry about cscope
cluttering the window. for example i can have the main window open and see all the definitions of the symbol on the left hand side without splitting the main
window.

Are you picking up the emacs native speedbar? Do M-x locate-library
speedbar.

Problem running ecb-activate

Hi!

I'm new to ECB and can not get it to work. When running ecb-activate I get the following message: "ECB requires speedbar [0.14beta1, 0.15.9]"

I have speedbar-0.14beta4 installed and it seems to work fine. I also have the following installed:

eieio-0.17
semantic-1.4.4
ecb-2.32

Does anyone know what can be wrong?

Is there a way to display the methods of a file other than the one
currently being edited in the methods window? When I'm writing spring
xml files, for example, it would be useful to view a summary of the
classes I'm configuring. It would also be great if I could get view
the methods tree as a child of the source file in the source window.
