EAC writing problemHi there, I am very new to using EAC, but have been recommended it by a
friend. I am trying to write CDs from WAV files that were decoded from flac files When I put the files into the CD layout Editor and start it writing it comes up with the error message Write Error! Cannot open toc file C:\program files\Exact Audio Copy\cdrdao\cdrdao.toc for reading. No such file or directory. I am a fairly novice computer user, can anyone give me a clue as to what this means and how to proceed? thanks stew |

First, use My Computer to verify that you have the CDRDAO folder. You may not have downloaded CDRDAO. Then check that in that folder you have CDRDAO.TOC. Incidentally, I dislike spaces in names of files and folders. It makes viewing difficult at times because of line breaks and is really unnecessary in most cases, though not where Microsoft put in spaces. Mike -- mrichter@... http://www.mrichter.com/ |

Thanks for the assistance, as I say this is not my forte. |

I don't use CDRDAO, so I cannot help further, I do not even have the folder. Someone who does rely on it may have further suggestions. Mike -- mrichter@... http://www.mrichter.com/ |

A cdrdao.toc file is basically cdrdao's version of a cue file, and is written on the fly by EAC. Something is stopping this file from being created. Some people using Vista have found that running EAC in administrator mode to have solved this problem. Administrator mode is an operating system function, and can be achieved by right clicking the programs shortcut icon and under the shortcut tab click the advanced button and select run as administrator. -- Michael J. Unfortunately it doesnt seem to want to a cd yet, also its not letting me add files onto a new CUE sheet. When I set it to write from a saved cue file, with no test, the track meter fills up, the cd meter fills up and the status stays on Writing Lead-In, the remaianing time counts down, and nothing happens. It also wont allow me to cancel and I have to close the program with Task Manager which tells me that EAC is waiting for a response but hasnt given me any text box. Any ideas? |

The first thing to try is EAC's built-in burning engine. If you go to "Eac options" dialog on the "Write" tab uncheck the "use CDRDAO..." option. Restart EAC and see if it will work with your drive. If it does then you won't have to worry about getting it to work with CDRDAO. -- Michael J. Russell mrussell57@... |
