EAC with Philips CDR770 discs

I recently acquired a Philips CDR770 CD recorder that I intend to put
with conventional my receiver/phonon setup.  I was thinking that I
might use it to digitize a few old LPs onto Music CDRW disc and then
rip the resulting CDRW with EAC to WAV which I could then edit, etc.

Is there anything out of the ordinary that I should be aware of
regarding ripping such discs with EAC?  [I do have considerable
experience using EAC to backup my commercial discs.]

just be prepared to be ripping from badly burned discs

i had a philips model also years ago - model 870 - i intended to
use it similar as to how you described, as a first step of digitizing old
analog sources like cassettes/LPs, then use EAC to extract to PC, then
software on the PC to edit/properly track things out

but about 1/2 of the time the 870 completely failed b4 burning a disc all
the way through; the other half of the time, when it actually kept going
until the end of the disc, all of those discs had errors on them detected by
EAC, some of them so bad i could not even extract them in secure mode

i switched from CDRW to CDR media in the philips and had the same problems
and over time it just got worse and worse (that unit is now in a landfill
somewhere as after about 2 years or so it would not even PLAY discs
either!!!!); a friend of mine had the same problems with his unit too

both of us bought our 870s brand new back at the dawn of the CDR
explosion and later regretted it

good luck with your 770 though!

I appreciate the input.  Forewarned is forearmed, or whatever.

I need to dig up the Music blanks that I have accumulated over the years an put it thru its paces to see how my mileage may vary.

I'll let you know.

PS:  I assume I haven't lost any critical functionality without the remote (?)
