EAC hangs when no CD drive attached

EAC hangs for me when no CD drive is attached to the computer, and
must be killed from the task manager.  I'm running EAC V0.99 prebeta 3
from 28 July 2007, under Windows XP on a Thinkpad T60p.

This is a problem now that I've replaced the ultrabay's CD/DVD drive
with a second hard drive (to store all that music).  The main reason
to fire up EAC without a CD drive is to use it (with my carefully
chosen Lame settings) to convert wav to mp3.

Why use EAC for that given your problem? If you want a front end for
LAME, try RazorLAME - freeware as usual.

Your result doesn't surprise me; there would be no reason to have
designed EAC to work without an optical drive.
