I've been using the GIMP for digital scrapbooking since 2005. I love it! There are a few tutorials out there, if you do a google search. I've, for the most part, been able to go through tutoritals designed for PSP or Photoshop and figure out how to duplicate things in the GIMP (but not written up tuts for it - LOL). Really, once you play around with the GIMP some, you'll be able to look at a PS or PSP tut and figure out the same steps in the GIMP. There are some decent books out there, too, that help with this. For Christmas I got this one: http://www.amazon.com/Artists-Guide-GIMP-Effects-Photographers/dp/1593271212/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1207667890&sr=8-1 It is really well written and has ways to do the effects you are interested in. Anyway, to make things appear 3-D, I usually apply a bevel to it and a drop shadow (both script-fus). Here's some of my LOs if you are interested: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v289/shamassy/ -Margaret -- ~ Margaret Ashton ~ Mama to Emmelia (6.5) & Maura (4) ~~ photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/shamassy/~~ [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
