A function to seperate area codes automatically into 4 time zones

Greetings,

I need to create a database whereby I can load 5000 phone numbers with area code and Excel (or DigDB) will automatically run a script that will seperate the phone numbers into 4 different time zones. Pacific, Mountain, Central and Eastern.

Is this something that can be programmed and achieved with DigDB? Do I need DigDB to accomplish this? Is there anyone in the forum that I can hire to create this for me?

66,000 rows roughly and Selection Expanded to End of Data Area vertically, Fill Blanks by Base Value Down doesn't copy in the address fields to the blanks, but rather all ZEROES. Huh? Any help with this? It's the main feature I purchased Digdb for but it doesn't work in large tables.

Sorting By Text Color Issue.....

Hello Everyone --

I got this to work once and each time thereafter it hasn't worked. I have a spreadsheet going with 12,000 rows and 2 different text colors. It worked fine the first time I tried it and now -- nothing. Any help is appreciated.

I have successuffly converted Number (general) to Number (text). My problem is that I need to define my number as being 2 digits. One digit numbers need to be proceeded with zero. aaarrrggh. Can anyone help!! Thanks much. Ann

Sorry for the trouble, please try the following:

1. Exit all Excel
2. Go to C:\Program Files\DigDB\ to delete the entire DigDB folder
3. Download a new setup from http://digdb.com/vba/old/DigDB7.1.3-setup.exe
4. Run through the setup
5. Activate with your account id.

Let us know if you still have problems.

License expired error

Has anyone had a problem with renewing a license and not being able to reactivate?

My license keeps coming up as expired even after uninstalling and reinstalling. I just renewed the license, with a new email address even, and still I cannot activate my license.

Anyone have a fix?

Nice to know that 07 has it built in, however that still does not explain why DigDB jams up when sorting. Its left me performing a save before trying to do even a single level sort in DigDB for fear that it will jam again ( when it does you must use the task manger to stop the program, or do a reboot and lose unsaved data)
Please dont get me wrong...I sure love this utility regardless, especially multi filter, and s merge table.
The multi filter lets me show/print my boss what they need quickly without haveing to figure out/write formulas , and merge table beats the heck out of the standard access merge I must do 10 times a day to incorperate link columns into my sheets.

With Excel 2007, it has a built-in multi-level sort, which you can use. It should be a better option than DigDB. Right click your table, on the pop-up menu, select "Sort->Custom sort...", then you should be able to find how to do the multi-level sort. By the way, the DigDB sorter shouldn't affect your regular sort.

I tried the multi-level sort in Excel 2007 on a 4-column table with 21000 rows and it's very fast. If you can send us the data you are having problem with the I will take a look.

I too work in large data bases, and am experiencing the EXACT same problem, the only difference i that DigDB sorter worked for me for 2 days in MS excell 2007, then started jamming as you described.
Furthermore it seems to have disabled the regular sorters ability to properly sort. It does not jam...but does not sort.
SO I AM STUCK USING FILTERS ....which is not nearly as efficient and im in the middle of the largest job of my work year. Lord I hope we get some help on this one...im afraid to even remove the program for fear of what might happen to my database.

If I understand correctly you want to find duplicates while still showing both versions so you can decide which one need to be deleted, rather than just filtering uniques.
Try this:
First sort your data by the column that wil most likely place duplicate rows right on top of each other.

Create a column to the right (next to the one that will help you locate dupes), say next to names, or id number.
in the first cell of the new rowenter this formulary
=if(click cell to left=click cell under the last,"duplicate"," ")
then copy this formula all the way to the bottom of the new column.
This is a simple logic testing if the row in the column to the left is the same as the one right below it it will list dupe in the new column.
This basic formulary will tag your dupes so you can examine them and decide which one is best to delete.

Lotus had a copy menu selection that added cell values. If I just want to quickly add together values from tables of similar dimension on the fly, this copy method was handy. Does your add in provide the same ability?

Problem with Ruler functions

I cannot get the Rulers function to work in XP either with Excel 2007 or Excel 2003 and couldn't find any information on the DigDb support page on this function. I have used this function in previous versions of DigDb. I have the current DigDb version (7.1.3.3). I receive a run time error "5" when I try to run it. Is this function still available? Thank you.

I have been tasked with packaging DigDB. What is required to silently install the application for delpoyment through SMS. What is the procedure for generating the license file, can this be pre-packaged or is there a mechanism for passing the Account ID as a parameter with the install.

Did you also check the following two places:

1. Click the big round Office icon located in the top-left corner of Excel, then go to Excel Options...-> Add-ins-> Manage-> Dropdown to "Disabled Items"-> Go... do you find Digdb in the disabled items? If yes, enable it. That is what's causing the DigDB menu to be broken with only one command left

2. Go through the same Office-icon-> Excel Options...-> Add-ins-> Manage-> Dropdown to "Add-ins"-> Go... see if you can find "Digdb" in the list, if yes, check it; else, use the "Browse..." button to browse to C:\Program Files\DigDB\ to select DigDB, then ok out and make sure it's checked in the add-ins list. ok out.

Now you should have DigDB automatically loaded up in Excel 2007.

This is probably a silly question, but I'm struggling to do a filter on a keyword list that I've created. Basically, I have 1 column of keywords which I want to filter into seprate columns of related terms. E.g I have a column that contains the following terms: Blue Steel Widgets, Black Plastic Widgets, Red Steel Widgets, Grey Aluminium Widets. I want to create a column of all the steel widgets. How do I do this?

DigDB will not stay in menu no matter what I do

I have searched the forum and FAQ's for DigDB support. I have upgraded DigDB. I enabled all macros. I have renamed the Excel11 file and reopened Excel. I have done everything that is out there, but DigDB will not open in the Add-in menu of my Excel 2007. I always have to go to Program Files and click on Digdb to get in back in the menu. It's very frustrating. How can I just keep the Add-in in the menu?

Hi everyone I need help with Merging my spreadsheets. I can't get it to work the way I need it to. I am uploading two Sample spreadsheets to illustrate what I am trying to do. If you look at testmaster1 there are a few blanks, testmaster2 has the spots filled in. How can I merge the two spreadsheets so that it will fill in the blanks of Testmaster1 with the information in testmaster2 without it overwriting the cells that have text? My End result should be the two spreadsheets merged with no blanks, and the blank cells filled with the information from testmaster1. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help!

After you selected the cells, you can just copy it and paste to a new sheet. This will extract the selected cells. Or, after the cells are selected, you can use Excel->DigDB->Selection->Copy Cells into->One Column

I am trying to combine several worksheets together into one. I just want to append them, one after the other into one worksheet. When I do that, it leaves the formulas so the numbers are incorrect. Is there a way to do this but have it copy as values instead of leaving the formulas?

I selected the values i wanted from the select cases utility but what i want is to extract only the selected cells in a new sheet and delete all the others. Does anyone know how can i do it?

And another question. I have 30 excell files and i would like to create one excell file that will contain all the files.Any suggestions?

Just to clarify, so you have a large list like

Name Answer
aaa 1
aaa 2
bbb 3
...

And you want a list like

Name Answer
aaa 1, 2
bbb 3
...

right?

Do the following:

1. Click a cell in your list
2. Invoke Excel->DigDB->Unique->Extract Uniques->from Table Column(s)
3. Use first dropdown to select the "Name" column
4. Tick the "optional" filed, use the 2nd dropdown to select the "Answer" column
5. click ok.

You can try this in a small table a few times to get a hang of how it works, then apply it on your large table.

advanced table match

Hi, what i would like to do is the following... I have a large list which includes the names of persons and an answer to a single question. Let's say i have 600 records from 150 unique persons (multiple answers per person). I want to create a table within excel where the answers per person are appended to a record with the name of the individual. The new table should have only 150 records with the answers appended to the individual records.

I don't seem to be able to solve this with digdb. Any ideas?

That is correct, the copied pivot table in the new sheet is still a pivit table and I am, of course, not able to edit.
