Hello Vadi,
As to the lens; modern (read AF) lenses have a CPU; depneding on where
the water was, it might have damaged the CPU; I hope it was not salt
water, because apart from being wet, it leads to more corrosion.
so you might need a new CPU for the lens (no idea who can do that and
what it costs). As to the optics, this is glass, and sould be unaffected
by water.
As to the battery: When Iremove my battery from my D80, I have no
display at all (on the top); when I replace a sufficiently full battery
I get some displays back (eg. the number of pctures remainng);
This is different from my F100, which will show some "grid lines" even
without a battery.
One everything is dry, do rechaerge the battery, and try to get some
basic info on the display on th top of the camera.
When you get it repaired, it should be more or less like new. Despite
this, the lens might hunt a little more.
I have a very old Sigma lens (28-70/f2.8). It looks like on the D80,
the max. opening I get is f3; also, at the ends of the zoom, the lens
sometimes has issues focussing.
Good luck
Robert
