Custom WiFi Board

I just created a custom carrier board for my Verdex XL6P based off of the netwifimicroSD eagle schematics that are posted, and am having trouble with the Marvell WiFi module.  I removed the LAN9117 and RJ45 jack from the schematics, but otherwise left them pretty much intact, adding only a Propeller, some motor drivers and a few other things here and there that are completely unrelated to the bus that the WiFi module is on. I've gone over all of the obvious problem points (solder connections, etc..) and everything checks out, so I seem to have done something fundamentally wrong. The only other difference is that I had to use the TI WAH4245 instead of the WB4245 as the level translators because I couldn't find the WB anywhere, but a look at the datasheets tells me that they should be equivalent.  Does the wifi module rely on the LAN9117 chip at all? Has anyone had any successes creating their own wifi boards?

First check you have the wifi module plugged in the right way. It can mate
with the connector both ways, and you may have inadvertently rotated the
footprint in your design to the intend orientation you hoped for.

The H version of the buffer has bus hold logic in it. The population of the
H version in one batch of netwifi-uSD cards I believe is exactly why there
was a recall ( for lack a of a better term) on those boards.
