Hello Second Grade Teachers,
My name is Dawn Eros and I am currently pursuing my Masters in Mathematics Education K-6.  I found that when I was teaching in a second grade, that my students had difficulty with understanding place value.  Since it seemed like such a problem area, I decided to make the difficulties that students have with place value my focus.  As I was reading other’s research on student’s difficulties with place value, I found that this is a problem with many students.  For one of my assignments, I need to conduct a needs analysis.  This is where I need your help.  I would really appreciate it if you would fill out this survey for me so that I can look at the surveys that are filled out by second grade teachers.  I hope that you will fill this out since it will help in my results.  With the results, I will be able to see what aspects of place value that students are having difficulties with.  Then I will be able to construct a unit that would focus directly with those difficulties and be able to help students understanding.  If you have any questions, my e-mail is dawneros@....  If you could send this survey back to me as soon as possible it would be greatly appreciated.  If you would like the results of my findings, please let me know when you send the survey.  Again, I would like to thank you for taking the time to fill out my survey.

Thank you and have a wonderful day,
Dawn Eros
