Csound outputWhy does csound print everything to stderr instead of stdout? Trying to parse
csound output is painful this way (stderr needs to be redirected into stdout first). Re: Csound outputI beg to differ, Felipe knows a great deal about computers and *nix,
and is also the maintainer of the Csound Debian packages and is pretty well respected around here. Also, stdin/stdout are not named pipes. steven On Sun, Jul 6, 2008 at 8:58 PM, Bobby <bobby19646075@...> wrote: > You know nothing about Unix or computers, Filipe. > stdin is a named pipe. Re: Csound outputI know what they are.
They are part of C. Which is what Unix is based on. Unix was out first, and ATT created it. I've talked with the creator of Unix and C. By the its Bobby McNulty. I'm back. I have Visual Studio 2008 express on my computer and am getting ready to get back into programming Csound. I am on Windows XP for now. I use the GUI for Csound. Gogin's Csound does work. Filepe, your messages are being broadcasted all over the net, so be careful what you say. You came off as negative, So be carefull. They are sources and a destination ("streams" in modern parlance) for data that could be sent, OS permitting, through a pipe. Early generations of unix audio tools (such as the CARL distribution) tended to write audio data to stdout as (usually) text floatsams, and read audio input likewise through stdin, relying on the unix pipe infrastructure to create chains of processes the final destination of which would be a file of some sort. In such a situation, of course, all informative text output has to be routed separately from the audio stream, hence the use of stderr.
