Connection to OpenJMS through a Firewall

Hi

Has anyone got OpenJMS to work to a remote server behind a firewall using either the HTTP or TCP connectors? I've tried both with all of the info from the mail archives but I'm still struggling to get a connection. Behind a firewall everything works fiine.

Any response or help would be appreciated.

Hello,

I also got problems to get it working outside a firewall. It seems that the JNDI lookup works through the opened port with the remote address, but then the connection is using somehow the internal address to try to connect …

We already contacted the developers, but they seem not to react… :-(

Additionally, there are other issues with reconnection problems…

So we turned to an other vendor (activeMQ)… We cannot wait forever on a product that not even seems to get out alpha and beta phase for so long….

Sorry that I cannot help. Hope someone else can prove me wrong ….

Thanks for the info. Not the answer I wanted but at least its a response. Many thanks. Have you had any issues with ActiveMQ in doing this?

I cannot promote other vendors on this userlist, it would be not appropriate.

OpenJMS is great for small projects, but failed in more demanding environments.

Therefore there are other commercial and opensource projects. Apache ActiveMQ is also opensource but has a lot more than the plain JMS server on board.

So the config is a little bit tricky, but you will find lots of documentation there.

And yes, we succeeded in covering all our issues like auto-reconnect, and connection through firewall. Hence at the cost of simplicity.

OpenJMS was very interesting product because it is a lightweight JMS server without the extra fringes… but failed to solve some important issues.

Hopefully we can change back to it when it has solved these issues and has matured to a release version.

Hi,

Sorry to reopen this old topic. However, I recently face up exactly the same problem of accessing JMS outside a firewall. It looks like the JNDI has some problem with internal and external addresses. Is there any solution, patch, update or something to solve this problem.

Regards,

Akin Gunay
