Configuring FLAC with EAC

Does anybody have a step by step of how to configure FLAC with EAC? I
have it almost completed, I think, but under EAC Options Directories
tab what do I put in the line where it says Use This Directory? I put
this C:\Program Files\Exact Audio Copy\, is this right? I have searched
the web, but I don't think the info I got is right. Also how about step
by step on how to use the software to convert FLAC to Wave Files after
all the settings are right?
HELP!!
Grant

Probably not; it should be set to wherever you want your ripped audio
files to end up; here I have it set to a directory I created myself,
C:\Media\music

EAC rips to WAV first then converts second; you're probably better off
just keeping your WAV files in the first place, so look in
EAC->Compression Options->External Compression and make sure the "Delete
WAV after compression" option is unticked.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

It should be set to C:\Documents and Settings\{your user ID here}\My
Documents\My Music\

The filename should be set to "%D\%C\%N. %T"

That will put all of your music under the "My Music" directory with
subdirectories of artist, followed by albums, followed by tracks.

  Fred

Here are my settings:

http://home.comcast.net/~esionder/temp/EACcompression.png

The full FLAC command line is:

-6 -V -T "artist=%a" -T "title=%t" -T "album=%g" -T "date=%y" -T
"tracknumber=%n" -T "genre=%m" %s

I like to have it prompt me for a location each time, but you can set
it to wherever you want to store your music. That would probably NOT be
the program directory, however.

I don't know. I don't use EAC for this function; instead I use FLAC
Frontend, or Trader's Little Helper, or FLAC from the command line.

That is way wrong... With FLAC having had -8 sped up and witht he
speed of current computers, there is no reason to sacrifice
compression for seconds of speed savings.

-8 -A tukey(0.25) -A gauss(0.1875) -b 4096 -V -T "artist=%a" -T
"title=%t" -T "album=%g" -T "date=%y" -T "tracknumber=%n" -T "genre=%m" %s

That woks so much better. And compressed better then standard -8.

I don't consider it to be "way wrong". It works just fine, thank you.

I find that some players don't properly read tags in files that are
compressed to level 8. And the saving in size in miniscule, not even
worth considering. I prefer to stick to level 6.

I do consider it silly to use -6 when -8 works fine. Any player that
cannot read the tags is poorly written. None of the players I use
including my Rio Karma has an issue.

-8 -A tukey(0.25) -A gauss(0.1875) -b 4096 -V -T "artist=%a" -T
"title=%t" -T "album=%g" -T "date=%y" -T "tracknumber=%n" -T "genre=%m" %s

that works very well and the space savings is worth it. Though if you
insist on using -6, use my string and replace -8 with -6. But until I
find -8 doesn't work, I'm sticking with it.
