Sun-3 with a 1-bit framebuffer??
You need a TAAC!

Does anyone know what sort of big-project-type-stuff these were used
in (if any)? They seem like an interesting bit of work, but done in
(AFAICT) by too-complex programming and the rise-to-domination of SGI.

Be neat to get at least the setup and demo stuff from one, though.

I vaguely recall hearing about this... was it 8-bit CLUT based or was
it true 24-bit?

I don't even have a correct monitor for the Sun-3's 1-bit frame buffer
that I have currently.

A friend gave me the CPU and had already tossed the monitor.  IIRC,
these monitors were specific to the Sun and couldn't be used for any
other machines.
