Compile error in tightvnc

Here's a weird compile error tripping up in 10.5.5 Intel, with fink  
0.28.6, while trying to compile tightvnc 1.3.8-3:

mfbtewhite.c: In function 'mfbTEGlyphBltWhite':
mfbtewhite.c:235: error: nested functions are disabled, use -fnested-
functions to re-enable
mfbtewhite.c:235: error: syntax error before 'char1'
mfbtewhite.c:317: error: 'char1' undeclared (first use in this function)
mfbtewhite.c:317: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only

mfbtewhite.c:317: error: for each function it appears in.)
mfbtewhite.c:317: error: 'glyphPointer' undeclared (first use in this  
function)
mfbtewhite.c:318: error: 'char2' undeclared (first use in this function)
mfbtewhite.c:319: error: 'char3' undeclared (first use in this function)
mfbtewhite.c:320: error: 'char4' undeclared (first use in this function)
make[3]: *** [mfbtewhite.o] Error 1

Any help with this would be appreciated.

This won't help, but this error was previously reported in August. No
solution was posted that I can find:

I have checked a fix into CVS now. It builds for me on 10.5/intel, but I
haven't checked whether it actually works.
