CheckStyle 5 beta

CheckStyle team,

I know there has been talk recently of releasing CheckStyle 5 in beta form.  Is there a planned date for the release?  Are there any tasks that still need to get done for the release?  If there are, I would be more than willing to help out with some of them.  Just let me know.

Thanks,
Travis

Great question Travis. Now that I have applied patch for being able to parametrize messages, I would like to put out a beta. Calling it a beta is appropriate as there may still be changes to the API and underlying implementation.

The biggest outstanding issue I see at the moment is the Parser error with obscure syntax that you actually identified. This is currently with Michael, but should not hold up a beta release. IMHO it does prevent a formal release.

The best things you can do to help out, are:
  • Test the first beta release as much as you can.
  • Keep those (great) patches coming in - and remind me when they get stalled.
Cheers,
Oliver
