Encountering Wrapped com.gargoylesoftware.htmlunit.ScriptException--HELP!!!!!!

Hi All,

Wrapped com.gargoylesoftware.htmlunit.ScriptException has been encountered while automating the following scenario:

Pre-Condition: Need to login to client network using VPN after which I do not have access to internet

I have a small script wherein I have to invoke a particular URL which is hosted on a local server for e.g. http://host:port/xyz.po. When I try to playback the recorded script, the above mentioned error is displayed and according test result is generated.

When I analyse the problem, it seems that the above mentioned URL downloads a particular javascript (.js file) to render the complete page from a URL for which it needs access to internet for e.g. http://www.xyz.com. And being on VPN, I do not have access to internet.

When I test the same scenario manually, I am able to set a proxy in my browser settings and simulate the same. I have also tried using the "setproxy" function of ANT but it does not seem to work. Or maybe am using the function incorrectly. Please find my usage below:

Would request someone to kindly help me with the issue as it is blocker issue for me.

I really don't know why this is happening...The funny thing is that i tried with another sites and it works...I believe that is a problem with my system, but I've already tried so many things, i already changed the user-agent, the header , type of content, etc...but it is still not recognizing the format...
Any ideas?

WebTest saves the pages received from the server, not the related resources and therefore no images. Concerning a frameset, if index.html contains a frameset, WebTest will save it as result of invoke for instance but it won't save the contained frame as this couldn't be displayed without modifying the code of the received response what WebTest NEVER does to allow you to see exactly what the server sent. Nevertheless once you use for instance a <followFrame/> the selected frame will become the current response and will be displayed in the report.

I am getting the following error when trying to run a webtest on an internal site:

This is an issue in the getter on the script object for innerHTML that
doesn't escape quotes.

Can you open an issue by HtmlUnit for that?

I just managed to narrow down the problem:
It has something to do with how a clickelement-step is used in a test.
I try to explain it:
When you use clickElement with an xpath attribute (see example below),
the internal StoreElementAttribute.findElement method returns the (xml or html) decoded version of the HtmlElement. (And that is WRONG!)
I wrote my own clickelement step where I simply dump the HtmlElement with toString.
If I use clickElement with htmlid instead, the HtmlElement contains the correct (not) decoded version.

Our real world scenario is this - I hope I can explain that with a few sentences:
We try to click a link that has an onclick attribute. The onclick attribute contains a functioncall with " for the double quotes of the function parameters.
The htmlcode for link itself is not in the page when the page is delivered but inserted afterwards via an async call. The insert happens by setting the innerHTML of a div in the original page.

If you save my sample html code to a file and use firefox to inspect the code you will see that everything is ok.
But with webtest (I used build 1705 an 1714) you will get a java script error saying that this is invalid javascript code:

Can you precise what your real problem is?

Indeed it seems to me that the problem you report concerns how the
current page state is dumped to a file. This looks like an error (you
can report an issue by HtmlUnit for that) but this has no impact on the
script execution.

AJAX response not populating textarea

Hello,
I have a <select> that when changed will call a javascript function that calls for a AJAX call
and populates the fields with the responseJSON. Is this supported because I keep getting this
error from htmlunit Javascript debugging.
"DEBUG (com.gargoylesoftware.htmlunit.javascript.host.XMLHttpRequest) - XMLHttpRequest.responseXML was called but the response is application/json"
Here is the section of my test script that it is failing on:
"<verifyText description="Verify that this is the page" text="Test Page"/>
<sleep seconds="20"/> ::Wait is 20 secs to prove that it was not just a slow response
<setSelectField name="select_e" text="sample_text"/> ::Fails on this line

I had gotten a similar reply from Lee Butts on the Grails list,
yesterday evening. If I can make it work and do it in a "clean" way,
I'll submit a patch to the plugin to include that functionality for others.

I'm still new to canoo, but i just can't start working with it...Every time i try to execute it, I get the message that Current response is not an HTML page but of type <nothing goes here>...
I'm am currently using IE 7 and Firefox 3.0.1...The site I'm trying to test it's: http://localhost:8080/<rest of URL>
Can anyone help me?

Grails Plugin - HTTPS

I posted something a week or two ago about not being able to get HTTPS
to work using the Grails WebTest plugin. I know more today, only
because I was lucky enough to see the right thing go flying by in my
terminal window.

It turns out that, even though I've specified (i think) that the tests
should run under HTTPS, that the Grails server is being started in
regular HTTP mode. I see now where the URL that is printed after start
up specifies the correct port (8443), but an incorrect protocol - HTTP.
So, it appears that the culprit is how the server is run.

I posted this question on the Grails list, too, but so far there are no
responses. I thought I'd give it a whirl here.
Does anyone know how I can really get the Grails plugin to launch
WebTest using the proper protocol? I already have:

webtest_protocol = https

in my webtest.properties file.

Upgrade to htmlunit 2.2

I have attached an example that I think demonstrates this, the page is kinda large, sorry. I tried to attach the js files but they are too large. I will send the one that is failing in 2.2 in a follow up email. Using the attached file if you invoke the page and click the Save button you get the following results:

Htmlunit-2.1 - JavaScript error loading page file:/WebTest Head/tests/companyTest.html: Wrapped java.io.FileNotFoundException: \administration\applicationConfig.do (The system cannot find the path specified) (script in file:/WebTest Head/tests/companyTest.html from (443, 34) to (0, 0)#459)

Htmlunit-2.2 - JavaScript error loading page file:/WebTest Head/tests/companyTest.html: TypeError: Cannot set property "returnValue" of null to "true" (file:/js/validations.js#1019)

HtmlUnit-2.2 against the server - JavaScript error loading page http://qa-opm-03/administration/applicationConfig.do: TypeError: Cannot set property "returnValue" of null to "true" (http://qa-opm-03/js/validations.js#925)

So the errors with htmlunit 2.2 are similar when using the server versus locally, but are drastically different than 2.1, as 2.1 succeeds on the server and fails locally because I don't have the redirected to page locally.

Does this help to find the problem in HtmlUnit-2.2?

Marc, thanks for taking time to answer:

Very possible my version is really old - it's 0.4 though - didn't think there would be that much difference. I tried upgrading the plugin to 0.5.1 and kept getting problems with xml not being included - very strange stuff.
[java] Caught: : java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/xml/sax/ext/Attributes2
[java] at grails.util.WebTest.prepare(WebTest.groovy:67)
[java] at grails.util.WebTest.runTests(WebTest.groovy:30)
[java] at TestSuite.main(TestSuite.groovy:8)

i understand that it believes it's missing an xml jar reference - just not sure if the jar(s) are present and just missing in some reference or if the jar(s) are truly missing.

In the meantime, I've been able to fix the 2 issues by modifying the xml inside the plugin:

1. For the embedded/external - i changed the plugin to make external default

2. I added a maxmemory attribute to the Java task and set the memory there. Not sure it was picking up the environment variable and don't believe JVMARGs was getting into the forked process. I believe the JVMARGs reaction is normal - but I'm concerned about the environment variable.

WebTestReport.xml and the subfolder are not configurable. It is a
feature for simplicity and scalability. If you need a totally different
reporting, you can write your custom result reporter.
