Can I have "daily blog posting" just for items tagged 4blog?Hi Folks,
At first I loved the del.icio.us "daily blog posting" as it seemed a minimal-hassle way to keep my blog (http://dumbledad.wordpress.com/ ) active, and I enjoyed reading del.icio.us driven entries on other people's blogs (e.g. http://www.plasticbag.org/ ). But I now find it's making me use del.icio.us less, and a feature that drives down usage doesn't sound like a good idea! Here are a couple of examples. I've recently been following the Warner Brothers / J. K. Rowling vs. RDR Books / Steve Vander Ark court case and I'd gathered together a bunch of URLs that I regularly checked no matter what PC I was on. Normally del.icio.us would be a great place to store these. However I was aware that they'd then be picked up and posted to my blog, which may of harmed the contract negotiations of a project I'm starting at work. So I couldn't use del.icio.us and had to use multiple IE favourites and coordinate them by hand. Similarly we've a great IP based KVM switch at work and I'd like to store its intranet URL on del.icio.us, but blogging a URL seems too brazen an exposure of our machine nameing and structures at work so I couldn't. Rather than turning off the "daily blog posting" I'd like to see it tag based, so that when del.icio.us rounds up my new favorites to post to my blog it only includes those that I've tagged with a tag I specify in the set-up, something like "4blog". How would I get that onto the del.icio.us future feature list? Or is it there already and I've just missed it? Cheers, Tim. |

Re: Can I have "daily blog posting" just for items tagged 4blog?Hi Tim,
Someday we'll update the "daily blog posting" feature, and that update will likely include the ability to only post items from a certain tag. We don't have a date planned for that though. If you don't want to wait indefinitely, it sounds like you could use the private saving feature to keep sensitive items hidden from your blog. (I'm not sure you've tried this. If you have, you can skip this paragraph!) Try saving a new bookmark or editing an existing bookmark and select the "do not share" checkbox. If that checkbox isn't there, you'll have to enable priving saving in your settings: go to http://del.icio.us/settings and select "private saving" under "Bookmarks". Then, you can make your J. K. Rowling and KVM bookmarks private, and they won't be seen by other people on del.icio.us or posted to your blog. Another option is to look into the various Wordpress plugins for integrating del.icio.us posts into your blog. http://heisel.org/projects/ is one example of a plugin that might do what you're interested in.
