Can't install Squirrel 2.6.5 on Kubuntu 8.04Hi,
When I try to run the install.jar file for this a blank LzPack window opens up with the heading "Installation of Squirrel SQL Cleint" and then it just stays there till I kill it. Has anyone seen anything like this before? KW ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. Re: Can't install Squirrel 2.6.5 on Kubuntu 8.04When you run the following command, what do you see?
java -version Do you run the installer like java -jar <installer>.jar ? We've seen issues like this before for some JVMs when used on Linux with Compiz / Beryl Desktop Effects. You can try disabling them and re-launching the installer to see if that is it. (Blah) and Kubuntu 7.04 aka Freespire 2.0 and it fires off with no problems. But when I hit Kubuntu 7.10 and 8.04 it's blow up city. Sad too, because it's a great db tool. Open for suggestions. :) KW. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. If I run the installer as a normal user I get: Qfile: writeblocked: file not open Also the Lzpack window comes up like it's ready to install but it just hangs. If I run the install as root I get: Invalid Mit-Magic-Cookie-! Key (.:426): Gtk WARNING **: Cannot Open Display : 0.0 Hope this yeilds some clues.
