CIFS trace

Hi all,

 

i have enabled

 

#options cifs.trace_login on
#options cifs.trace_dc_connection on

 

I have a share called BI on the filer which I try to mount with correct or wrong password and get always this message:

 

Fri Jun 13 16:02:24 CEST [XXXXXXXX: auth.trace.authenticateUser.loginAccepted:info]: AUTH: Login by NULL user from 10.10.46.2 accepted.

 

If I look at other shares like home shares I get a lot more log files:

 

XXXXXXX>  16:19:50 CEST [xxxxxxx: auth.trace.mapNTToUnix:info]: AUTH: Mapping Windows user dewmew$ to Unix user pcuser.
XXXXXXX>  16:19:50 CEST [xxxxxxx: auth.trace.authenticateUser.loginAccepted:info]: AUTH: Login by dewmew$ from 10.10.38.102 accepted.
XXXXXXX>  16:19:50 CEST [xxxxxxx: auth.trace.authenticateUser.loginTraceIP:info]: AUTH: Login attempt by user dewmew$ of domain BRAINLAB f
XXXXXXX>  machine 10.10.38.102 (DEWMEW).

Whats wrong with my BI share?? What means NULL user?

Unless there is some other problem I would not say there is anything wrong with the share.
Take a look at https://now.netapp.com/Knowledgebase/solutionarea.asp?id=ntapcs5136 it explains the NULL user message.  Basically it means a client is enumerating the shares without logging on.
