Hahaha!! That's a good one!! Loved it!!

During the time that I was using PASCAL, I had always assumed that C stood
for "Cryptic" and C++ was "Additionally Cryptic".

Thank you for confirming my suspicions.
Fortunately, I discovered the "Define" compiler directive early on and have
been able to make my c code masquerade as Pascal.
I have always been thankful for the 17 lines of "white space" that the c
programmer always provides after an especially intricate c statement so the
next programmer has room to try to puzzle out what is really happening...

c!

That is a small part of a bigger work called _The UNIX Haters Handbook_ which is really funny (and fun).

And there used to be a unix-haters mailing list as well.  Alas, these
date to the days when "windows" wasn't the main alternative :-(

Yet hate lives on --

http://hates-software.com hosts a mailing list that maintains much of
the attitude and technical level of the original newsgroup.

Yair.

PS. The software running the site seems currently broken, but the list
is running.
